Get ready for major changes to Disney security screenings. The 2 largest terrorist attacks since 9/11 have happened within 30 miles of both resorts. They have to be pondering this right about now.

It was reported that everyone is going through the metal detectors today instead of random selection.

Which attack are you referring to, besides the nightclub shooting?

San Bernadino maybe? But that's more than 30 miles from DLR
As the crow flies, about 30 miles. I was living just south of San Bernardino when that shooting happened. Now I live just north of Orlando. A little unsettling to say the least.

I wouldn't feel any less safe in Disney World today. I don't worry about my safety there for half a second. They know what they're doing.

I completely agree. I also think people forget that WDW uses plain-clothes security as well as uniformed security, so just because you don't see them, doesn't mean they're not there.

I hope no one lets these events deter them from going to places like Walt Disney World and Disneyland. It is horrific and tragic, and I know that Disney will ultimately end up implementing additional security as a result. But I'll be damned if I'm going to let these bastards who commit these unspeakable acts make me afraid to travel within my own country.

Rick Scott has declared a state of emergency for Orange County. They will have more resources available to them.

large companies come to disney and ask advice about safety, there are undercover police all over the place in the parks , they are watching from areas you would not even consider, this was discussed on the DIS after the paris attacks

I am greatly saddened by the events today in Orlando. I will pray for the victims and the families involved. This is a problem our nation and the world have, and we will have to cope with this now and in the future. In general I believe local law enforcement will do the best they can to protect us, but no system will ever be completely terror free. Our family will continue to travel. If we stop, the terrorists win. This year we are going to Disney, Rome and Istanbul. We will not be deterred.

GOD BLESS:cloud9: all of these innocent victims and their families :grouphug:as they cope with this HORRIBLE SENSELESS TRAGEDY! Such a SAD DAY for our country and world.:sad1:

I flew from the UK to Boston a week after 9/11 no way will I be put off by this awful event. It was my 30th birthday treat to do a driving tour of New England in the fall. People said we were mad to go. But we were glad we did. It was a brilliant vacation. We were most humbled by all your flags and the way you pulled together as a nation after the tragic events in New York and beyond that day. The fall colours that year oh my. I would not have missed that for the world.
