POTC2 like it or not

Over all we all loved it.......can't wait for #3 either. We are trying to figure out how they will plot it. Was kinda looonng, but if Jack and Will are there, I won't mind!!!!!!!!

I liked it- but not as much as the first one. But I do want to see it again, I have a feeling that I will like it better the second time around. I saw it at Midnite, and I may have just been too sleepy. I am really looking forward to seeing number three, and how finding out how they tie everything up. I also wonder if this really will be a "trilogy" or will they try to find a way to make even more sequels.

We just got home from the movie. I really liked it!! We didn't stay for after the credits, though...what did we miss?

I loved it. I could not believe that I had been sitting there for two and half hours when the movie ended. I loved the special effects. I was going to go see it again tomorrow but my baby is sick so will have to wait. :guilty:

It was somewhat of a disappointment for me. I did not like Davy Jones and his men. Barbosa was a much better villian. I was so happy to see him at the end! :woohoo: It took much to long for Jack, Will and Elizabeth to all meet up. Once they did I thought it really took off so I enjoyed the last third of the movie. The way it ended did leave me anxiously awaiting next May!

We saw it today in a very packed theater. We were disappointed.
The storyline was all over the place and the action scenes were wayyy tooo longg.
I think this movie needed a big re-write. I didn't care for the "barnacle" crew...just an imitation of the skeleton crew in the first movie.
The dialogue wasn't quite as witty in my opinion.

I do have to ask...how is Barbarosa alive? since Jack shot him in the last one? :confused3

Just came back from seeing it a second time. I enjoyed it much more this time--I had a lot of questions about the plot after seeing it the other night... Now I think I get it. (That movie takes some concentration--at least it did for me! Darn pirates! pirate: )
I have to say that I agree with the comparisons with Star Wars--this POTC is definitely setting us up for what has to be an amazing final part of the trilogy--can't wait til next year!
But also, I'm a little disappointed with Elizabeth now--does she want Jack (as the compass would indicate)? Is she Will's long-lost sister (as some of you are suggesting?)
Can't wait to see how they bring Jack back! And now we need to go back to DL and ride POTC there--the beginning of that ride is just like the river to the Voodoo woman in the movie! (Or should I say they did a great job of making the movie just like that ride!) :sunny:

It was ok, but too long I thought. I think they crammed too much into the movie. Also, the story was a little hard to follow at points....there didn't seem to be much transition between the "acts."

I loved it. I'll probably go see it again before its out of teh theatre.

I knew I probably wouldn't like it as much as the first one because of all the hype. I thought it had too many "nudge nudge remember this from the first movie " jokes and scenes. And I didn't like that it didn't end! lol

It also seemed a little less believable then the first. Like there was a lot more falling from REALLY high cliffs and LIVING! Or the fact that apparently no one can die...Will's father, Barbossa, probably Jack...

I did however LOVE Barbossa and whatever the pirates name that Mackenzie Crook plays! I'm a big Geoffrey Rush fan so seing him(even for only 5 seconds) brightened the movie!

I'll end up seeing it again with my friends again so maybe I'll like it the second time around.

If I remember correctly, didn't the monkey steal a coin at the end of the first one? That would allow Barbossa, Jack, and the monkey (and any others from the original) to continue to be "immortal" until that coin is returned.

We saw it on Friday and I personally loved it! The special effects were great and the action scenes were amazing (yes, I agree they were over the top but amazing nonetheless). Plus I was sitting in front of a giant screen watching Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom for 2.5 hours ~ does it get any better than that, LOL? :lovestruc

You are right on the first part, but incorrect on the rest. Whoever is a part of stealing the treasure is cursed until all the blood is repaid.

Unless someone else was with Jack, only he will be cursed. If you listened to the other two pirates from the first, they were talking about being mortal again. So it was only Jack who was undead

I'm a bit shocked that people are saying the movie is long. Don't y'all realize that the first one also was just about 2.5 hours? I was expecting much of the same on this one. I also was expecting an unbelievable story line like the first. Davy Jones ruling the sea with his crew was no less believable to me than a curse that makes you undead. The rest of it was equally as far fetched as the first IMO

DBF, my sister, and I saw it last night and we all LOVED it. I thought it was just as good as the first one and the special effects were fantastic.

I also loved the way the story moved, although it seems many of you didn't. We already knew the characters after the first movie, there's no need to rehash their personalities. I found the exploration of their minds much more interesting...how Jack became the way he is, Elizabeth performing an act of "piracy" while Will tries to be good, etc. The end was really a twist as well, seeing Barbossa again and the crew's declaration of where they're all heading. I can't wait for number 3 next year!

I've seen alot of critics predicting that Dead Man's Chest is going to shatter the one day opening and weekend box office records that Spiderman 2 currently holds. We shall see.

If anyone needs a recap of the movie this might help. I would not read this if I have not seen the movie yet.

I hated the previews, they scared me half to death and there were too many of them.

I loved the character of the lady that lives in the river

I loved the ending

I didn't like Davy Jones' crew and all the really frightening scenes. I saw some really scared children :guilty:

My DS (8) loves pirates and does NOT frighten easily. However, word to the wise, there were two things that bothered him...

The part where the crow picks out the dead guy's eye (gross) and the Kracken (sp?) attacks.
Other than that he was fine.
Wasn't there a Kracken in that old movie "Clash of the Titans"?
BTW, my friend's 18 year old son said people BOOED at the end in the theatre he saw it in!
Also, you can try themoviespoiler.com for a plot recap.

This is what I'm wondering about :confused3

Along with:

What will be the fate of Will's father
How will they bring Jack back
Will Barbosa turn to the "good" side
Who will take control of Davy Jones' heart
Will Norrigton become completely evil in his new alliance with the East Indian Trading Company
What will the Lady of the River have to do with the next movie?

If she is Will's sister it could only be half because she has no Turner blood (remember the first time Barbosa tried to lift the curse???)

It's been years since I've seen that movie (I think I was a freshman in high school and watched it in World Cultures actually), so I don't actually remember much of it. I just wanted to add that the version of the Kraken portrayed in Dead Man's Chest was actually the product of Jules Verne's mind. :)
