Being a avid Disney fan, loving all Disney films, I know I'm biased and would not make a good Oscar judge. What I did not like about LOTR or any film of this caliber is that it relied to much on animation so to speak. It's not the fact that it had animation but that it was overused in order to tell the story. Sometimes to much computer work can be a negative thing. It's nice to see a good story with computer animated special effects sprinkled in to give the story flavor rather then one that requires so much to bring it to life that it makes even fantasy unbelievable. I find it overwhelming to see a animated story brought to life with a little bit of film added in. I prefer the opposite myself. Sure LOTR was good, but 11!
