POTC whilst pregnant?

Hi all,

My inlaws are treaing us to a trip to DLP for MIL's 70th birthday. Woo Hoo!
I booked the holiday ages ago- early this year.

I have just found out I'm pregnant!

The thing is, POTC is my fav ride ever and i was wondering whether anyone had ridden on it whilst pregnant? I know Disney recommends not to, but one of the guides I read didn't have it listed as a problem. So I am unsure what to do.

I will be 3 months pregnant in Sept, so I won't have a bump. There are 2 drops in POTC and neither are steep or bumpy, from what i remember. So what do you think?

Has anyone been on it whilst pg?

DH says it would be OK, whilst my best friend said 'no way' but she hasn't ever actually been on the ride.

Congratulations . I haven't ridden whilst pregnant but I can't see it being a problem as it is a gentle ride really, however only you can make the decision.

Disney say not to to cover themselves legally. Like all theme parks do.

I did ride POTC while pregnant 2 years ago. At the time I was also about 3 months along and had no problem or discomfort.

Hey congratulations!!

I think they just put not to to cover themselves, but PotC is a lot less bumpy than a flight on a plane (or driving on a contry road) - and you're allowed to do those pregnant - so you'll be fine!!

I'd steer clear of Spance Mountain and ToT though!!

We have the same concerns reagrding out upcoming trip to DLRP. My wife will be 4-5 months by the time we go (well hopefully go) I'll probably let her do the ones she wants to once so that we can then guage how well she copes, hopefully we can cover whatever bump she has by then so that she can go on the rides

Been there done that lol ,I was about 5 months And I had a wonderful time ,though a few grannys that were on the coach where saying you be careful my dear As long as you are feeling well in yourself you will be fine,in fact we always joke about it been my daughters first disney trip And I once read that babies can hear music in the womb so thats why she is such a mouse geek now as we trained her from the start good luck i sure you will have magical time (I would skip star tours though lol)

I agree Torsie- the roads around here are much bumpier than POTC!

Cap'n Jack- could your wife carry a large squashy bag in front of her bump until she gets on the rides- then no one will know! Make sure she doesn't wear a 'bump on board T shirt' or similar thing!!! LOL

It would be lovely if the bump could hear the music- then when he/she is born I could use the music to relax them when it's bed time (and I'd be reminded of our trip!)

By waiting until the last night of the holiday, I won't be nagged about not going on the rides, resting etc!!! (not that I'll go on TOT, SM etc!!!)

I certainly wouldn't have any qualms about going on POTC in early pregnancy - enjoy yourself!

I think that's a bril idea! Doing a cake on the last night will be such a great surprise for them! Besides, they will have plenty of time (before and after the birth) to tell you what you should do -

I registerd after weeks of lurking to post on this thread we are off to DLP on the 25th of Aug for a week, I found out a week after booking that I was pregnant (again) And have spent the last few weeks also wondering if I will be able to enjoy the rides safley. I will be 10 weeks on our arrival, do you think I'll get away with going on any?
My sister said her best friend enjoyed most of the rides at Blackpool pleasure beach at five months, but you can not help but worry.

I would say it would be okay, its a nice gentle ride with 2 small drops, the only thing you might want to consider is as the boat gets ready to do the drop it does jerk getting onto the ramp to guide it down the slope and if you have backache it might aggrevate it.

I think there's quite a few rides you can do at 10 weeks pg.

Pirates of the Carribean
Snow White, Peter Pan- all the Fantasy Land ones I think- except the tea cups as they may make any morning sickness you have worse.

There's lots more, but I'm in a bit of a hurry atm to list them all- but there are lots!

Good point Fiona- luckily my back is OK atm. Quite often walking does it good- in fact I normally never get backache at DLP. I usually lose a few pounds in weight too, as well as a few hundred in money LOL!!

Congratulations!

I went on Snow White and more or less almost all the rides in Fantasyland, Flying Carpets etc etc when I was 6m pregnant with Anya. Only you know how you feel and if you feel ok then why not?!

Thankyou My first thought was typical.. we have a history of me missing the good rides at theme parks for one reason or another. Blackpool I was pregnant for the 2nd time, at alton towers we found out our eldest was a bit of a jesse and I ended up waiting with him whilst every one else went on the coasters and now it looks like I'll miss out on the big coasters again.
Was thinging about breaking the news to the boys on the last day there, can you order special occasion cakes then?
Glad to hear there will be some rides I will be able to get on, not sure if to risk any of the big coasters

Congratulations (both) on your respective pregnancies - hope they are happy and healthy.

I have to say if I found out now (or between now and Nov) that I was PG then I'd cancel the trip.

I can't go to disney and miss out on ALL my favourite rides, it would be torture.

Mr EK just has to tie a knot in it between now and Nov, it seems!
