POTC Premier question

I was just wondering how it worked when they did the POTC 2 premier last year at DL. I know that the general public wasn't actually at the showing of the movie, but were able to see all the stars as they walked down the red carpet. Did you just line up and wait all day? I am guessing that there's a limited # of people they let in to wait behind the barracades. How early did they close the park that day?

If anyone here went and could tell me how it worked that would be wonderful! TIA!!!

The park will open about 6am. Many fans will be there that early and grab a spot on Main Street, and just never leave. The park will close about 5 or 6pm. They won't make you leave but no one else can get in. Once the stars have walked the red carpet, they will clear out the park.

the rest of the park is open too correct? just the area on main street for the stars is blocked off? also, how do you get to stay and watch the movie at nightfall? do you need to buy seperate tickets or is it special invite only? i wanna go see it ; ;

Invite only. Unless you're starring in the movie or are extremely close to someone who is, you've got no chance. I remember people contacting Disney asking what (if anything) they could do to get in and nothing!!

Why not just go to the park on premiere day (if it is going to be held at the park this time that is) and catch a glimpse of the stars!! If I were in the country I certainly would!! :goodvibes

I ws there the day the first movie premiered. We (family) had no idea it was happening that day, it was just a coincidence. Even though the park was open, it wasn't such a great day to try to "do" Disneyland. All of Main St. was roped off as the red carpet was already out. Main St. was lined with people camped out to see the stars. Adventureland was open, but everything past the Treehouse was blocked off (NOS, HM, etc.). I can't really remember how much of Frontierland was accessable. We were pretty grumpy about the situation as we just wanted to do DL as a family. They did close the park down, but if you could find a spot, you could stay and watch the stars come down the red carpet. We ended up doing that, then going to CA for the rest of the evening.

It was quite crowded that day, but I'm sure it was nothing compared to the day the second movie premiered. And if the third movie premiers at DL, I can't imagine what a mob scene it will be!:scared1: IMHO, it would NOT be a day to go, unless you wanted to be part of the premier scene. And as the previous poster said, there's no way you get to stay for the movie--invited guests only.

Thanks for the info. I think it would be cool to see the stars on the red carpet, but I am not planning a trip around it. There is a small chance that our dated will change, but right now we are going the end of May first of June, I figure we will probably miss "the" premier, but I will be happy to see POTC 3 at the AMC in DTD. I just wanted to know what to expect if we happen to be at DL when it does happen. Sounds like a good day for the beach :) Although, it would definately be a once in a lifetime experience for me.

mikayla73, Have you ever gone to a Disney movie at the El Capitan theater on Hollywood Blvd. in LA? It's a beautiful old theater that's owned by Disney, so the big Disney movies always play there. Besides the big screen and great sound, they often have props, costumes, etc. from the movie that's playing on display. I saw Chronicles of Narnia, Pirates II, and Nightmare Before Xmas 3D there. For Chronicles, they had snow in the theater before it started, plus the actual wardrobe from the movie, along with many other props and costumes. For Nightmare, they had several of the actual puppets that had been used in the making of the movie. I'm already planning to see Pirates IIIpirate: there this summer, even though I live in AZ.

Also, the Disney Soda Fountain is right next door--good place for lunch or a treat before/after the movie! :woohoo:

Thanks for the info! That sounds pretty cool to do. I have only read about it, never been there. Sounds very interesting though. :goodvibes
