POTC II news?

Johnny Depp stated last night on Jay Leno that he is trying to get Keith Richards to play his father. What do you think of this?

It's true, if that's what you are asking.

Many sources reported that Depp based his POTC character on Richards, and they wanted to get the musician to make an appearance in one of the sequels. If your concerns are related to the casting--don't worry, it wouldn't be much more than a cameo appearance.

They've been trying to work something out for months, but schedule conflicts and superstar demands have gotten in the way thus far. I'm sure they'll keep trying to work something out until the last minute before bringing in another actor or rewriting the scenes.

I knew it was true since I heard Depp say it. The ? was more towards, is this news or old info.

When he said it last night, I thought it made sense since he based Sparrow on Richards, but not sure about his being cast into the role, based upon his lack of acting experience. Or have I missed his numerous prior acting roles?

I also do not know if it was a major role, minor role, or cameo.
