Hi everyone,

I watched trailer for new POTC 4 movie and can you imagine it does not include Will and Elizabeth!!! They are main characters as well as Jack, all 3 of them !!!
I always very careful with sequels but they pulled it with 2 additional mvies after original one. So what happened? Did actors asked too much for next movie? Whose brilliant idea was to leave Will and Elizabeth in a horrible situation, after all how many days together they will have and completely change Jack?

Since when Jack is a lover? His only love is sea and Black Pearl, freedom like he said. His second love is rum and this is it. He briefly hit on Elizabeth,breaks couple hearts along the way but none of it is important to him and now he is in love? And I think we have to be grateful it is Penolope Cruz and not Angelina Joile, at least Penolope can act.

Really, who approved this story? It is like having only Luke and not others in Star Wars.
Sorry, had to rant a bit. What do you think?

Personally I haven't seen it yet, but Pirates 2 put me to sleep! LoL! I guess maybe I'll get the movie when it comes out on DVD.

I think you missed the point of the "10 years later" epilogue after the credits in PotC 3. It's pretty clear then that Will and Elizabeth are NOT going to be in the next movie. You have to sit thru the credits (or FFD thru them) and watch how Elizabeth and the young Jack spot the green flash on the horizon...

I saw Elizabeth with their son. Actually I missed it in theater and later found on Youtube. I was crying on 3rd movie and really hoping they will find a way for Jack and Will to switch places, without killing each others. After all Jack wanted to live forever, not Will. I do not feel that Will and Elizabeth story complete.

before they even started a fourth, Orlando Bloom and Kiera Knightley made it quite clear they wouldn't return for any more Pirate movies. so, there was never any chance they'd be in a fourth.

also, as i understand it, the first three were Elizabeth's arc. that story ended with the third movie.

i'm happy that Jack and Barbossa are back. that's all i need. the second movie was terrible without Geoffrey Rush.

Hi Brunette, did not see you for a while. POTC 2 is least favorite of mine as well although it was clear they will not end it this way.

Merry Chistmas to you and your family!!! POTC 4 will actually be in 3D, so you will not see special effects on DVD, although I am not sure 3 hours in those horrible glasses is a good idea, lol.

Kelly, I'm with you. I love the story line of Will and Elizabeth. The movie will not be the same without them. I will have to go back and watch the credits bc I missed the whole baby thing. Thanks for the info.

To be honest, I'm kindve glad they're moving on with a different plot.. I mean, what more can you do with Will and Elizabeth? Have Blackbeard kidnap their son? But don't get me wrong, I loved the work they did in the first three films and even if they were returning in the fourth I'm sure it would be awesome. But I think the fact that they're going in a new direction and bringing in Penelope Cruz and Ian McShane makes it a more anticipated film. Also I loved the novel by Tim Powers and the story behind Blackbeard and the Queen Anne's Revenge.. I'm really looking forward it.

Giving upon a trilogy due to a ling boring second movie would have meant the loss of Return of the Jedi, The last Crusade, and yes, at world's end. 3 favorites.

It was supposed to be a trilogy. Pirates 4 isn't technically the 4th in a series, not technically a sequel. I'm sure there will be some references to the others but I think it should be able to stand alone. New story, new characters.

i agree with this.

also, in POTC3, they killed off most of the minor characters. the only characters returning (that i'm sure of) are Jack, Barbossa and Gibbs. Keith Richards is also returning, but i don't consider him a major character from the trilogy (just a cameo in the third).

Can't wait to go see this movie! I am planning my Disney trip around it so that I can see the movie in Disney! We were there during POTC 3 and people were dressed as pirates. It was so much fun being around others who love Jack Sparrow just as much as I do! I don't care who else is in the movie as long as I see my Jack, lol!

Saw the trailer yesterday before Tron Legacy plus a couple of large posters at the theatre. I got so excited, the POTC movies are some of my favorite movies ever. I don't know if this one will be as successful as the others, but I don't think it'll flop either. Johnny Depp is a big star and the Jack Sparrow character really makes those movies (although Orlando Bloom isn't hard on the eyes). I agree with some of the other posters, they did close the Elizabeth/Will story at the end of #3 and to bring in some new faces with Blackbeard and Penelope Cruz's character will make it not seem like they just cranked out another movie to make some money.

Jonny Depp loves the Jack Sparrow character and said he would continue doing the movies if they were written. Orlando and Kira were not as attached to their characters and have no desire to continue with those roles.

Additionally, Pirates 4 builds off a small plot turn from the end of 3 - the search for the fountain of youth. 3 ends with Sparrow getting his hands on the map and 4 picks up on that journey.

The Elizabeth story at this time - goes to land and has baby. The Will story at this time - stuck on Flying Dutchman, cannot return to land for 10 years. If Will and Elizabeth show up in the 4th, it destroys the storyline created for them in the short scene following the credits.

Not to mention - I believe the idea is to focus on more specific Pirate experiences based on real life Pirate lore. If the 4th movie does well, Pirates 5 and 6 will be shot together.
