I have a question regarding the movie: Why is the monkey still immortal?

apparently at the end of the first movie when everyone had their debt paid and the curse lifted (including monkey jack) he went back and took a piece of gold.

apparently at the end of the first movie when everyone had their debt paid and the curse lifted (including monkey jack) he went back and took a piece of gold.

if you watch the movie all the way to the end of the credits, they show that monkey taking a coin from the cursed gold.
It only affects the money because all the pirates had brought back the gold pieces they had stolen, so the only piece removed was the one the monkey took.
