The last time I brought powdered laundry detergent-which is safer than liquid at least leakwise-the airport people made me open the suitcase and take it out and they ran it thru the drug machine. it was VERY embarassing! Not to mention having to repack the darn suitcase. Does anyone else have this problem or how to avoid it? thanks!

It doesn't surprise me that they would do this, afterall, it's better that they be safe than sorry!

I would highly recommend bringing along the Purex 3-in-1 laundry sheets instead of the powdered detergent. It's one sheet (similar to a dryer sheet) that you put in with the wash and it acts as detergent, fabric softener, and then when you transfer it along with your clothes in to the dryer, it acts as a dryer sheet. It's the most handy way to do laundry when traveling! :)

I put them in labeled little baggies...one load per snack bag. Label it and then put it in my checked suitcase. I always separate the clothes in those huge ziplock bags (because what if your luggage is sitting on the tarmack waiting to be put in the plane and its pouring...or worse your shampoo leaks....anyhow. I put them in one of the side pockets and whatever if they look in it...there is nothing you can do about them looking in your bag anyhow...so I normally dont put locks on...why have them broke. But I take like 5 or 6 loads worth.

I use these two, they are awesome! I take them everywhere.

I too use the Purex sheet when ever we are traveling. Much easier than powdered detergent.

at target they have packets of liquid tide. i put these in my quart size bag and go! it's nice that they're pre-measured!
