Postponing for Covid

It is with incredible sadness that we are forced to postpone the November trip we had planned a full year ago. There were many Covid-related reasons, of course, but the main one being that my daughter's school informed us she'd have to quarantine after we returned for possibly as long as two weeks.

So, questions, if you don't mind:

1. In the current environment, how flexible will Disney be? I don't expect to get the same deal for next spring (our new target), but will there be penalties?

2. Are there specific policies WDW has instituted for cases like this due to the cutbacks they've made (shorter hours, etc)?

3. With more than two months to go, am I too late to even do this?

Thanks in advance, everyone- one way or another, we will be there in March!!!

1. How did you book your trip? I'm sure Disney will be as flexible as they can be, but some booking methods allow them to be more flexible than others.

2. What are you trying to ask here? Are their call centers' hours cut back? If that's the question, I do not believe so.

3. Depends on your answer to question 1, but probably not. Lots of companies are being very flexible with bookings in hopes that you will remain loyal in the future.

Thanks, Ben. I used a travel agent. I'm waiting to hear back from her now, as I just told her this on Friday.

For #2, I'm wondering if maybe there's a specific Covid policy for cancellations right now. For example, in "normal times", I would assume they'd have a different response than now, maybe?

They've been a lot more flexible with DVC bookings, which is one of their most difficult areas to be flexible with, so I am assuming you will be in good shape as long as you did not rent DVC points from a private owner or broker.

Best of luck. If ur Not satisfied with the result from Agent, go up the chain of command and try again. Disney IS trying to accommodate so what’s Exactly related to u from Agent should be THEIR policy not agents😎

We cancelled our August trip and it was easy peasy, no penalties at all.
You will be fine, Disney just extended the cancellation policy to 24 hours before your trip arrival date through 2020

Hi! Not sure why your agent hasn't gotten back to you yet :( Did she/he hadn't explain the terms & conditions before you booked? Either way as @disneyAndi14 said, today Disney extended their waiving of all cancellation/change fees through the end of the year so you'll get a full refund. Even before today, since you're cancelling more than 30 days out you would have gotten a full refund :)

They won't honor your 2020 rate for next year however if you know your dates for the spring already you can move your current reservation to those new dates! Any monies you've paid already can go to that new reservation. Best of luck!

Thanks, Cruella! No worries on the agent- we spoke yesterday at length. Yes, cancelling was as easy as described here and booking for next spring was just a matter of accepting the pricing then, which is higher than it would have been had we gone in November.

My wife argued that we should get some sort of credit towards next spring since Disney changed all the park hours after we booked...but I'm not interested in fighting that battle.

Also, for anyone else in this position, just be aware that Disney still is not selling rooms in any resorts that aren't already open.
