I've decided to postpone dinner until tomorrow. I had planned to make a standing rib roast but my Mom and I have colds, and her's is really bad today. She is feeling awful. So since she feels rotten and can't taste anything anyway, I'll just wait until tomorrow to cook. She was really looking forward to prime rib and she wouldn't enjoy it at all today.

By postponing, perhaps everyone will be a little more jolly. Holidays are never about the food or gifts; its the presence of loved ones that make them magical.

Sounds like a good idea. Nothing worse than forcing yourself through a holiday meal because you have to. I've done that before--been fairly ill at Christmas and just didn't enjoy any of the food.

We've had to do this before. It was Thanksgiving that was post-poned while DH's grandfather was in teh hospital. Today may be "post-poned" too. DMIL picked a major fight with DH...I mean major...so DH and I may have to do our own Christmas dinner tomorrow.

You have had a tiring time with MIL lately haven't you? Hey, for her birthday you should send her on an extended trip to visit friends and distant relatives!

The date on the calendar doesn't matter - have a wonderful holiday meal tomorrow. I hope you both are feeling better soon!

We are postponing our rib roast dinner too. Not because we are sick or anything though. I had it in the fridge thawing and it is still frozen as hard as a rock! :lmao: So spaghetti and meat balls will be tonight's feast!

Added: We went ahead and did the roast. It thawed out enough...just wasnt room temp when I put it in. It was GREAT! Then when I was cleaning up I spilled ALL the leftover gravy on the floor! what a mess.

:hug:Smart girl. Ya'll need to take a long hot bath and curl up with a good DVD with some hot tea. Tomorrow will be better.

We will also be eating Christmas dinner tomorrow. We were going to have a nice roast dinner last night, because DH is on duty today, but I wanted to go to the mall and people watch. :rotfl: We kind of hung out there to long, so we decided to put off cooking the roast until Sat. night. :thumbsup2

I planned on postponing the dinner till tomorrow and we are having it tonight.:lmao:

We are having filet mignon's and lamb chops. So easy to whip up.

I should have postponed our dinner! Our turkey took forever to thaw, and was still icy this morning. By 1:30 today it was finally thawed enough to cook, but it would take several hours. So we ordered Chinese food to have for lunch while we watched "Up!".(Fa ra ra ra ra!) The turkey was done at 6:30, so we ate around 7. Neither of us were very hungry, so tomorrow we'll have leftovers! I don't like Chinese food all that much but DH loves it, so for him it was more exciting to get Chinese take out than to have a turkey dinner!

We postponed too. We have a 3lb pork tenderloin roast and by the time I woke up after falling asleep on the couch, it was way too late to start that. So grilled cheese tonight - which the kids LOVED- and pork tenderloin tomorrow.:thumbsup2

Holy hand-grenades, you have no idea. It was bad...really really bad. I'm afraid that as of right now, DH has written his mother off. I support his decision 100%, but the day was unsalvagable. Worst Christmas ever.

Our Christmas is going to be tomorrow. Saturday. 18 people coming.

Today, Christmas, we simply went out for Chinese.

Most relaxed Christmas I've ever had. Even got to watch the Disney parade for a change. :goodvibes
