Postive Feedback for CBR?

I highly suggest trying new resorts. Our goal is to stay at them all at least once. But i can say we stayed at CBR this year and it was a "one and done" experience for us. Transportation was the major killer for us. The resort rooms themselves are nice.

We love CBR! The pool, the sandy beaches, seeing the EPCOT fireworks, the food court! The only drawback is the bus system because there are so many stops. Last time it really aggravated me, which is why we will be staying at POR next year. I'm hoping that I don't miss the tropical feel too badly :(

So can you see the Epcot Illuminations from the beach, rooms,? That's kind of fun!

We stayed there earlier this month. It is gorgeous. We stayed inn a non-preferred in Martinique and loved it- the short walk to PR didn't bother me at all- staying in a preferred there would put you very close to Port Royale. The resort and rooms were quiet. The beds are wonderful! All rooms are refurbished except pirate rooms so no worries there. We didn't find the busses bad at all- we had a car which I thought we would truly use more than we did- but it stayed parked from checkin to checkout time. All my kids loved the pool, never trouble finding a spot to lounge, the bar was awesome (DH and I spent 3 hours there one night talking to the bartender working - it had just stopped storming and the bar area was pretty empty.)

We are def doing a preferred room, just since it will be our first stay at CBR and we want to minimize our walking. We are excited about the pool! Looks great!

I thought CBR was pretty. I won't stay there in a Standard room ever again though. My SIL booked a standard room and she was watching my kids while I ran the Princess 10K so I booked a Standard room too. Had I known then what I know now I would have GLADLY paid to upgrade her room to preferred. We requested connecting rooms in Aruba or Jamaica near the bridge. We ended up with the furthest out non-connecting rooms in Jamaica building 41 on the backside next to the road. It sucked.

Ignore most of the negative posts. Seems to me they mainly relate to size of the resort and that shouldn't have been a surprise to anyone doing some research. We love the resort. Never bothered with a preferred room but all our family were able-bodied with the youngest around 7.... so strollers were a distant memory!

LOVE CBR! We stayed there for the first time last October and will be staying there again in August. Some of the rooms are a little far of a walk if you have young kids, but we made it fun! Every morning we had to walk across the island to get to the main building and my kids were pretending to look for Snipes :) We had a water view room last time, we never really did look out the window so this time we preferred to just book a standard room and not worry about anything because we prefer to be closer to the parking lot than anything. We always have a car as well. Loved the atmosphere, the CMs were all so wonderful! Don't have a bad thing to say!

Wow really? I did research, and was still surprised at how long the walks around the resort could be. Probably because so many people post to not listen to those who say you can have a long walk!:headache: After being on my feet all day the last thing I wanted was a 20 minute round trip walk to the food court. :crazy2:

I will agree that CBR is a very pretty resort. But I wouldn't stay there again without booking preferred. So don't ignore the negative, but just take it into consideration when making your decision on where to stay and what type of room to book.

We did a Royal Room a couple of years back. They are nice and in the preferred area of the resort. Easy walk to main building and bus stop. Our girls loved the room, but I do not think it was worth the extra $$. Now with taking DS along with us, this resort seems a better fit for a mod and the price is right! A friend of ours stayed here last March and loved it! Said it was worth ever penny!
When you say "this resort" do you mean POR or CBR? Thank you for the clarification!

OH, you are the original poster so you mean CBR. I see!

We are staying at the CBR for the first time due to the free dining plan in September. I hope we made the right choice. From the reviews, sounds like we did.

Reviews are a great way to discover facts about resorts, but the like/dislike stuff is all subjective and has no bearing on whether you will like it or not. My example: We hated Beach Club. Posting that on the Dis is like drawing a picture of Muhammad in the Middle East. :scared:

Why doesn't matter, as it was all about us and the things that we hated most people love. Don't give up on a resort because others dislike it.

Are the preferred rooms newly renovated or will I have to request that? I thought I read that all the rooms had been redone, except the pirate rooms...

All of the non Pirate Themed rooms have been newly renovated.

This. :thumbsup2

CBR...sorry :-)
We love POR but won't do the royal room again. However I understand if she is princess crazy. I did a review of the room here: http://sharpmoms.com/2013/01/disney-review-port-orleans-riverside-royal-room/

At the time we enjoyed it but it was overpriced.

I have heard the size of the resort is a negative, but we thought POR had quite the walk from the Bayou rooms to the main building. With a preferred room I think we will feel better about the distance to the food court, main pool, etc.

So, the other thing I've read about are the internal buses. I've heard you love it or hate it. I feel neither way about it; just think it's interesting.

Thank you for the feedback! I like trying different resorts as well. Thanks for the feedback!

I love CBR! I think the biggest thing it has going for it is the tropical atmosphere-- It has one of the best "feels" to me of any resort on property.

If you remove the Pirate Themed rooms, CBR has the same footprint as POR.

We've had a total of 45 nights at CBR and have yet to use the internal bus. Every time we see it go by, it's empty. :confused3
