Looking into Caribbean Beach for our upcoming 2016 stay. I've heard much negative comments via the reviews online, but I am holding out hope that a preferred room and nice pool will prove that CBR is a good choice. (2 adults, 3 kids, so must have room for 5 people)

Any perks to staying here vs other mods? We are BIG POR fans, but want a change without going value.

We were huge POR fans until having to switch to CBR for Free Dining years ago and we haven't been able to go back to POR. We just feel in love with it. Things we like:

Every village has its own bus stop and quiet pool so you are never far from one
Even when at capacity, it never feels crowded
The Main Feature pool is awesome, depending on the ages of your kids the splash area is fantastic for kids under 48"
Shutters is a very good Table Service Restaurant
The check in area is separate from the arcade, food court and gift shop which really keeps the over crowded feeling down
There is a concierge desk at Old Port Royal that can do everything the front desk can do, except check in and out so no need to go to the front desk
The layout and choices of the food court are great
The laid back relaxed feel of the resort is such a change from the craziness of the parks
Grabbing a drink and laying a hammock on the beach watching the higher fireworks of Illuminations is a great way to end the day

Before our first CBR stay I saw a bunch of negative reviews and am SOOO glad we decided to give it a try. It is definitely our home now.

Honestly CBR was our favorite moderate, we loved it! Even more than we like POR. Like the previous post everyone has an opinion. They have just redone the rooms at CBR and they are really nice! Request an updated one. I guess my question is what is the most important factor to you when deciding on your resort (location, size, bus times, price, etc.)?

Exactly!!! CBR is a very relaxing, wonderful resort! We LOVE it! I haven't seen the newly refurbished rooms, but I would really like to stay in one! I would consider a preferred location at CBR because of the size of the resort. If you decide to go with a standard location, we have always liked the Jamaica section. we have been in buildings 44 and 45 and thought that both were good.

The main problem seems to be the multiple bus stops, but we prefer to have the bus stop nearby and don't mind a few stops on the way to the parks.

Enjoy!!!

CBR is the only mod we've stayed at and we loved everything about it. I agree with all of the pp's in that CBR is a beautiful, relaxing resort with a nice food court and great pool (as well as a quiet pool for each village, as dansdad mentioned). We also found the buses to be quick and efficient (even with the internal stops).

I will say that my DD and DSIL did not like this resort but I did. A lot! WE did pay for a preferred room, and IMO, it was worth every penny. It is a large resort, but absolutely beautiful. I loved the hammocks on the beaches and spent time there relaxing while my little DGD played in the sand. The buildings are pretty, perfectly themed for this tropical resort, and the grounds are plush and lovely. I found that the CM's were all pleasant, the resort itself was clean and bright, and the bonus was that Shutters, the onsite restaurant offered one of the best meals we had on that trip.

There are a lot of stops for the buses, and while that annoyed my family, it really was not problematic IMO. If this resort can accomodate your family, I would book it and gie it a try.

we love it there tops the poly and okw in my opinion! cbr and the yacht club are my favorite resorts! We have stayed numerous times at cbr and cant imagine we would love any other moderate as much!

CBR is the only resort I won't return to. I really hated everything about it. And we even had a corner room with an extra window that was nice. It just didn't call to us at all.

We think CBR is terrific.

We stayed in a pirate room over Easter week in 2012, and will be returning (connecting standard rooms) this August.

We did have a car.

After a 2009 trip (Fort Wilderness Cabins) that included an infant, a toddler and a stroller, we will ALWAYS have a car.

We considered several options on this trip -- for roughly the same price we could have had a 2 queen/pull out room at the Contemporary or Grand Floridian, a Cabin at Ft. Wilderness, or 2 rooms at the CBR.

It was a tough decision, but the 2nd bathroom ultimately tilted the decision to CBR.

Have a wonderful trip!

We stayed there this this Christmas and had the most amazing time. It was our first moderate. We hadn't a single complaint. In fact, we are going back in August for a quick visit and the kids loved CBR so much, they were disappointed to find we weren't going to be staying there. But Stormalong Bay helped with the pain of staying at the Yacht Club this time around. LOL We wouldn't hesitate to stay there again in the future, should our budget guide us towards the mods again.

I've stayed at CBR twice and would definitely go back. To avoid long walks to the food court, request either Martinique or Trinidad North. Our room was always clean and comfortable. Buses were prompt. Food was perfectly adequate. No complaints here!

We love CBR! The pool, the sandy beaches, seeing the EPCOT fireworks, the food court! The only drawback is the bus system because there are so many stops. Last time it really aggravated me, which is why we will be staying at POR next year. I'm hoping that I don't miss the tropical feel too badly :(

We have booked a POR Royal room for DD 3 but for 500.00 less can stay at CBR and after reading this thread I'm tempted. How do the renovated rooms stack up to POR Royal? I like the idea of a zero entry pool too.

Okay, we just booked with a preferred room! I was hoping to hear that that is worth the extra bucks :)

We did a Royal Room a couple of years back. They are nice and in the preferred area of the resort. Easy walk to main building and bus stop. Our girls loved the room, but I do not think it was worth the extra $$. Now with taking DS along with us, this resort seems a better fit for a mod and the price is right! A friend of ours stayed here last March and loved it! Said it was worth ever penny!

Are the preferred rooms newly renovated or will I have to request that? I thought I read that all the rooms had been redone, except the pirate rooms...
