Posting Pictures?

I notice that a lot of people post pictures, personal, of their kids and themselves. Doesn't that make you nervous? I mean, this is a public board and all; or am I just paranoid?

There are two reasons I don't post pictures. First, I don't know how. Second, it does make me a little nervous. I'm always telling my teenage daughter to never do that.

I've honestly never gotten why people are afraid to post pics of their kids on the internet. I mean, it's just a picture of a kid. There are pictures of kids everywhere - magazines, tv, billboards...

3) You post a countdown and where you are staying
4) So any freak on this board knows you kids names, where you are staying on vacation and what they look like!

Everything else I prefer to not share with strangers. That's why I also won't rag on my spouse here. Just seems disrespectful to her...

Any freak and what army?? I watch my kids even more closely on vacation, like most people do. Kids change so quickly anyway. What they look like now, they don't look like a year from now.

Truthfully, you are correct. Law enforcement officers teach us to never post pictures or anything about our children on the web. But in reality, I think those statements are geared more toward the "teenage crowd" who tend to do lots of chatting online, and can easily give out way too much information for the nuts out there.

Here at the DIS, we tend to live in our own little magical world anyway. No worries!

Hmmm, that's a lot of work to get the same information that said freak could get just by casually observing you on vacation. Hypothetical: sitting by the pool, I call to my kids, by name, to come with me. Walk to room with freak observing from a distance (there are so many people, who would notice.) Again, freak nows my kids names where I'm staying, what they look like. Same info - and more - less work.
