  • I never Post...only Lurk

  • I've posted a few times (1 to 5 times per year)

  • I try to participate a bit (5 to 50 posts per year)

  • I Actively participate (50 or more Posts per year)

  • 50? I did that yesterday!

Looking at the posts and views columns on the boards got me to thinking...

How many of us are active posters (for argument sake....I'll set the number at a "low" 50 posts per year)....how many have only posted a couple of times and how many DIS DVC "regular" (consistent and over a period of time) lurkers are there?

Seems there's a whole bunch of viewing compared to posting...since this poll doesn't require a post (just a click) I'm hoping we'll get a fair representation of the number of those that just lurk as opposed to actively participate.

I was going to do the poll, but, since I might have *lurk tendencies*, I decided against it, so not to start something by posting.

I guess I don't consider myself a "lurker" because I do post sometimes. Most of the time I don't have any additional information that hasn't already been posted. I do post if I can contribute.

I think I'm considered a poster and not a lurker. What do YOU think???!!! LOL :rotfl:

:disrocks:

My motto:

"Neither a poseurish poster nor a lumpish lurker be."

Seriously, though, while I'd like to try to be more helpful to some of the newer folks who pose questions, I possess neither the typing skills nor the patience to try to tackle the repeat questions. So, couldn't we try to put together some sort of FAQ at the top of this list (like the one that was attached to the ROFR thread not too long ago)? Moderators???

And, secondly, with regard to some of the other posts, (think resort-bashing) well, I just get tired of the lack of common sense, not to mention simple politeness, that some people demonstrate. And so I stay out of those "discussions," too.

I really think the FAQ idea is worthy of exploration, though.

::yes:: I agree.

Great idea!

Yes, it is a very general FAQ. But I think we need a better one, maybe even a couple of different FAQs:

Introductory FAQ: DVC: How Does it work?

FAQ: The Resorts, Pros and Cons

FAQ: Points, Making Reservations, Banking, Borrowing

FAQ: Travel outside DVC

Those would be my off-the-top-of-my-head ideas.

I try to post about once a week, but sometimes it's less and sometimes more. I do read a lot, though. Can't get through a day without at least checking in.

I will post if I think I can add something to someone's question. If there is a thread with a humorous vein I sometimes chip in.

I have slacked off thanking people for trip reports, but I should step it up again. After all since I enjoy reading them, I should encourage the writers! :)

All in all I consider myself an active participant in the DIS, especially the DVC Boards.

I've lurked a lot doing research but now I'm posting lots of questions since we are knew to the DVC experience.

I mostly lurk here (DVC) but that is because I am a new DVC owner and am not sure about the boards yet.

Regular and supporter. This site helped me out when I was a lurker and deciding about DVC. Then I got hooked and decided to become a supporting member.

I joined here two weeks ago. I have my 50 posts for the year covered, and I'm working on next year. As far as the low viewing to posting ratio. I have opinions on lots of stuff,(just about everything if you ask my wife) but if someone already stated my view, I won't post it again. So I read a lot more than I post.

After more than 2100 posts -- I'm just wondering what you think it will take to become "sure about the boards" ????

;)

Well, Gee...Let's see...Hmmmmm, Yep, I would be a POSTER! :teeth:
Believe it or not, not all of those 20,000 posts were on the DVC board.

hmmmm....welcome to the boards diane (or is that hanname??)...don't believe I've seen a post from you before ;)

more poster than lurker...time permitting and upcoming trips permitting.

I believe that may be the true issue behind viewer to poster ratios. It seems (from this highly precise and scientific study) that there is actually a low percentage of individuals who only read and never post (although we should allow that there are some who would not post and also would not be willing to poll - although I can't imagine this number is huge).

The only number that is a bit scary is the number of people who selected the last category. I need to determine how you can post 50 times a day AND feed a family of 4....then maybe I'd join you all :)
