How long does it take for a postcard to get from Disney to the UK?

I try and post my cards about 2 or 3 days after we get there so there's time for them to get there before we get back but I've known the cards not to turn up until about a week after we've returned. Which is annoying.

Do postcards automatically go the quickest route?

I live in the US and I make it home before the postcards! You could try putting them in envelopes and using 1st class mail and it might be faster.

The problem with sending any mail internationally (unless you pay a lot extra for express mail) is that it goes on the planes on a space-available basis. The post office won't put it on a plane until they have enough other pieces going to the same place to be able to fill a certain (I don't know the number) of mail trays/tubs. Once they have the full trays, then they have to wait for an airline to have enough space for the mail. Sometimes it can be very quick, other times, not so quick.

As a general rule, international mail takes 7-12 days to get to it's destination after leaving the US.
