My DD20 did this project when she was in 1st grade. My mom worked for an airlline at the time and asked some of her friends from work (one was a pilot)to send some from their vacations and work assignments . The class got postcards from Russia, England, Germany, France, Italy, Greece, and Japan. The teacher was thrilled and expanded the project a little bit. The kids were able to bring the cards home at the end of the grading period. ( the cards had been mailed to the school) We had no idea who the card from Greece was from, and finally figured out it was a neighbor of one of mom's coworkers. The teacher asked me one day about the foreign countries and I explained about the airline connection.

The funny thing is we were just talking about this project the other day

I know I have seen this done here before, because I have sent one or two…..so I hope it’s OK to ask.
My DD9’s class is studying the US and is looking to collect postcards form all 50 states.
If anyone has the time and/or resources to sent her a state-oriented postcard she we be very grateful!

Oh how fun. I have helped others with this and Flat Stanley projects and hope I can count on the DIS when I need it in return.
