I know some of us have been talking about the postal rate increases. These take effect May 12th.

The $0.41 to $0.42 doesnt sound all that bad does it?

The Priority Rate is a different story. Sending it non flat-rate is a maze of weights & zones. Figuring those out won't be fun. The flat rates will all change -

$4.80 is charged for matter sent in a Priority Mail flat-rate
envelope provided by the USPS, regardless of weight or
destination.

$9.80 is charged for material sent in a Priority Mail regular flat-rate
box provided by the USPS, regardless of weight or destination.

$12.95 is charged for material sent in a Priority Mail large flat-rate
box provided by the USPS, regardless of weight to domestic
addresses, and $10.95 for material sent in a Priority Mail large
flat-rate box to APO/FPO destination addresses

So our flat rate boxes are going from $8.95 to $9.80
Supposedly if you print online, there will be some a discount. Priority Mail will have an average 3.5 percent savings for customers who use electronic postage or meet other requirements.

Due to this change, I am going to have to try to keep my swapping in an envelope. :sad1:

Wow, two envelopes are cheaper than one box...
Thanks for the reminder, I forgot this is happening, what day does it go into effect?

Yep, at those prices.. my stuff will be at a minimum after the swap commitments I have currently..

wow, that's nuts! For that price I may as well Fed Ex 2 day, at least they can track things better and are less likely to lose it.

I was told at my PO that if you ship in quanities from online then the rates will go down. I didn't make it to the workshop they had down here about that though.

Now that's motivation to try and figure out why I haven't been able to ship using the online system. I think I need to delete Adobe and reinstall it or something because I spent an hour one time trying to print those stupid labels before I finally gave up for good.

I suppose a dollar hike on the big boxes wouldn't seem so bad if we hadn't just had one last year!

But at least you can just pick up envelopes - we have to buy those AND pay silly postage:sad2: (Or am I getting confused?) Anyone waiting to send me stuff let me know if you'll need extra $$

I figure my swapping will take two forms....small and BIG. It's still cheaper to send a box with 20 swap groups for $10 (50 cents a group). Than 3 groups in an envelope for $5!
