Hello All!

I am on the waitlist for the first time, and was wondering if you would mind sharing your experiences? For instance I recall seeing a post or 2 from individuals who didn't get their waitlist choice until they called again, and also from an individual who didn't know his waitlist had come through until he saw his reservation had changed on the DVC website.

I know that people usually only post about something when there's a "problem" so I'm assuming that the majority of waitlist issues go smoothly.

Would anyone like to share their experiences? I am interested in knowing, what dates/resort/accomodation you waitlisted for, the date you actually went on the waitlist, the date your waitlist come through (if it all), how did you find out the waitlist came through, etc.

Anyone mind sharing?? Thanks!

We have just had our first waitlist experience. We contacted Member Services a couple of weeks ago, asking for 7 nights in a Studio in early January 07 - we requested several DVC resorts, including BCV, SSR & VWL, not really minding which one we got. When they e-mailed back they said there was no availability at any of the resorts on the dates we requested and would put us on the waitlist. We fully expected to wait a few weeks and possibly have to re-contact Member Services to find out if any availability had come up. Well, a few days after our initial contact, we received an e-mail to say that 7 nights had become available at SSR, which is our home resort, for the dates we originally requested. So only positive experience so far of waitlist for us.

I had a postitve waitlist experience as well. I had a 2 bedroom reserved at OKW but needed to change the dates of my air travel due to an airline schedule change, and I decided to travel the previous day. I called MS about two months out from the travel and asked for a studio anywhere on October 15, a Sunday. There was nothing anywhere, so I asked to be put on the waitlist, again, for any resort. Less than a week later, they called and said there was a studio at Saratoga Springs, which I took. They asked if I wanted to stay on the WL for any other resort, and I decided to stay on the WL for Old Key West, because it seemed like it would be that much simpler to be at the same resort. About 2 days later, OKW came through! Again, they called me, and asked if I wanted to take the room. I was home both times they called.

I know it wasn't a really complicated or difficult waitlist to have come through, but it was a positive experience!

We just purchased in to DVC in April. Immediately after purchasing, we called for reservations in late December (December 26-January 1). December 27, 28, 29 and 30 were available so we booked those, and waitlisted for the nights of December 26 and December 31. The night of December 26 came through in early June (about 6 weeks after waitlisting), and the night of December 31 just came through a little over a week ago. Two waitlisted nights, both of which cleared! :)

We're having our first wait-list experience too - which I wouldn't have even thought about doing had we not been reading the boards.

We have OKW booked for Jan 12 - 14 -- we wanted to stay til the 15th but there were not any studios available for the night of the 14th. So we went ahead and booked the first two nights in the OKW studio and are waitlisting for the last night in OKW studio. They had a one-bedroom available but we didn't want to move... if we don't get the extra night, we'll just come home a day early or find an inexpensive hotel to stay in. We have also requested our T.A. to check on availability and rate at POFQ and Pop Century because if either are available for a good rate for us for the entire weekend (or even just for the one night) then we may cancel our DVC ressie for OKW and just do a cash trip.

Anyway, good luck with your waiting -- we're hopeful that we'll get our 3rd night, but if we don't, at least we're driving and not flying so we don't have other travel plans hinging on where we stay.

FWIW, the DVC lady told me that they will call (and I verified what number) and we have 24-hours after they call to return the call and accept the waitlist offer. She said they will leave a msg on an answering machine.

We already had our November/December trip planned and reservations at another hotel. Then we bought DVC. End of August or maybe early September I called member services and asked about a reservation knowing full well there would be nothing. When that was confirmed I asked to be waitlisted for our dates. I let the lady know any resort would be fine and that I would like a 2 bedroom or 2 studios.

I think I heard back from them about a month later, my request had the wrong dates on it (arriving one day earlier) and so I had to decline. The lady corrected our wait list and put us back on.

I heard back from them again a week later - 2 bedroom at OKW would that work? Why yes it would! Took the reservation then called on our hotel reservations and cancelled them.

I did the waitlist twice this year, once for Thanksgiving and once for Christmas. Thanksgiving I got one night, and waitlisted for the other week  and I got all my days, one at a time. I waitlisted in January for the week BEFORE Christmas, and I am still waiting for two days! So far, it has worked well, but I am concerned about those two nights at Christmas. I may just end up changing rooms, I guess. Usually the waitlist works well when you give it enough time to do its work, 6 months or so.

I have waitlisted three times, two times the waitlist came through and once it didn't. I guess this is a good record. One came through exactly 8 days before the vacation. Last minute cancellation I guess. Here is some pixie dust!! :wizard:

We booked into BWV at the 7 month window, changed to OKW when extended family changed their minds (sensing another story here? :teeth: ), waitlisted at BWV & BCV. Found out BCV came through when we accessed DVC member site, no email notification.
Yipee! we leave Friday!
Holy Moley, now have to research best 2 bedrm to request

I've had good luck! I just got my waitlist for Beach Club Villas (2bdrm) Jan 1-5. I went on the waitlist in September I think. I originally had VWL for those nights, then took that down to 2 nights for various reasons, then decided we wanted to go back to 4 nights again. I asked to be put on the waitlist for anything in those nights. I've never stayed at BCV before and am very excited.
I had one other experience with the waitlist. It was for the last week of July for a studio BCV. It came through, but we didn't get to go. I own at BW and Vero and am really happy to get all of my days, so now I can use the Magical Express and save the rental car money! I may even add on the Dining Plan!

I forgot to mention how I heard about my waitlist. I had originally set it up for them to call me. Then yesterday, I called to see if it would help to change that to the autoconfirm and they said no, it didn't make any difference. I was willing to autoconfirm because I had just made my plane reservations so I REALLY wanted to get those nights. Anyway, I got the call today on my cell phone (I gave them both numbers)! They said I had until midnight tomorrow I think to decide but I said yes right away and then looked online and it was changed by the time I got online!

We just got back 3 weeks ago from SSR and OKW. I called 11 months out for SSR for a GV and also a 2 bedroom. We got both for a 2 night stay, and then approx at the 7 month window, we added a extra day at SSR for a GV and another 2 bedroom. We were on a waiting list for about 1 month and both rooms came through!! We also were on a waiting list (similar situation) for OKW for the following 3 days and both rooms came through for that resort as well.

Loved SSR and OKW too :)

We also have always had good luck with the waitlist. Only once did it not come through and that was for a GV at OKW. One time, BWV came through exactly 7 days out from our vacation! That was so cool! :cool1:

Now, that being said, we have been waitlisted since August for 11/24 - 11/28 and 12/27-12/30 for a studio at BWV, BCV or VWL. Nothing has come through for either yet. I'm not complaining too loud though 'cause we managed to get SSR for both times and, considering the time of year, we're very lucky we got that. Staying at SSR is certainly no hardship!:teeth:

Waitlisted for November 5-10 at BWV for a 1BR standard view.

I called right at the seven month mark. Two of my dates were available, the rest I had to waitlist. One by one, all my dates came through. I can't remember exactly when they all came through. I would guess that within a couple months.

I found out by checking the MS web site. I also received the confirmation in the mail. I opted for automatic waitlist.

We just bought DVC in September and bought direct from Disney because we could make a reservation as soon as we paid a small deposit. We wanted a Feb 07 reservation during President's week (only 5 months out) and were able to reserve a SSR GV for 3 nites and a 2BR at OKW for 2 nites and we waitlisted at either SSR or OKW for the 2 remaining nites. We also waitlisted to replace the 3 OKW nites with a SSR 2BR to stay within SSR or a SSR GV to eliminate a move.

I called MS at 4 months out and the SSR GV waitlist came available that day for 1 of the missing nights and I made a cash ressie at OKW for the other nite to fill the week. I checked the DVC website yesterday, approx 3 months out, and the SSR 2BR came thru for the 3 nites we were moving to OKW. Now I only need to cancel the cash ressie and see if the SSR GV waitlist comes thru to keep us in the same room all week.

We are very happy that our first DVC ressie made at 5 months out for the busy Feb school vacation week is now complete and that our 2 waitlists came thru at 4 months and 3 months out. The key to our success was multiple waitlist options. Now we can't wait until 2/17!

Congratulations on your waitlist success! It would be so neat if that GV came through but you've got a great attitude about it and that makes it easier to smile and enjoy! :teeth: :teeth: :teeth: :teeth: Have a wonderful vacation! :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: :sunny:

I started this thread, and didn't think I'd be posting my experience this quickly, but here I am!

I booked SSR on 11/6 for a studio from 1/20-1/22. I waitlisted for BCV or BWV (didn't have preference), and I logged onto the DVC member website today and saw that I am now at BCV!! They didn't call yet, but I dont care...I got my waitlist!!
