DS(2) is going to be Buzz, DS(8) will be Darth Vadar (I think I might have to do something with the pants because they are a little long but will wait till OCt to do so incase he grows), Dh and I are going as the RED team from Trading Spaces. I got the idea from someone on the boards. We are going Oct 16th. ANy other TS teams that night?

From experience the "could be offensive to others" means can it get by the CMs/security at the entrance. We bought DS (9) a zombie costume from the Florida mall, every body on the ferry across thought that it was really cool but unfortunately the CM didn't! She in fact wanted him to take off the whole costume before entering & it was only when we explained that he only had underpants on underneath that we were allowed in but had to go to one of the Disney stores on mainstreet to buy a T-shirt & shorts! i wouldn't have minded so much if we hadn't seen a lot scarier costumes later on !
SD :paw:

Shooby Doo, what was it that you think the cast member found offensive with your ds's zombie costume? Did the CM check to see if your son changed clothes? I am sorry that you had to go through that. I am sure that your ds was disapointed with not being able to wear his costume.

Cool! I'll look for the Cleopatra on 10/31..lol

I'll be the Yankee civillain who wasn't creative enough to think of an easy costume to pack! :rotfl:

I think I have ours - but I have to win it off Ebay first, so if I do I'll be back to share!

I'm going to be Dora the Explorer and DH is going to either wear his scream mask or be Swiper.

Great Idea about going as home renovators! We're going Oct 14 to MNSSHP, and I just went to discovery store online and noticed the shirts for trading spaces are only $2.99! Ordered 2 for me and Hubby, not sure he'll wear it, but for $3 who cares! and a small tshirt for DD 10 who seems mostly disinterested in the whole dressing up thing. DD "almost7" will use last June's dance costume and be a 50's girl.
Thanks for all the great ideas, hope you don't mind I used your home renovator idea!

Don't mind a bit, especially since I got the idea from somebody else here on the DIS in the first place!

We got the shirts for $2.99 also - that was what really clinched it for me!

:earseek: Last year I was Captain Jack Sparrow and my husband we Neo from the Matrix. We had so much fun, even Mickey did the Neo thing from the matrix to bring on a fight. it was awesome!!

This year we are going as Van Helsing and I am going at Belle from the Broadway show (Blue dress). I am a professional costumer and I can't wait to go. My husband said they might make me work there if I end up looking like Belle!! :D Should be cool.

We were going to be Phantom and Christine!

I'd like to find costumes that we can wear as a family, but I'm not that creative, and kind of time crunched. Maybe we'll just throw a costume on our son, but I'd like to get into the spirit. Thinking about what won't take up much room in the suitcase is also a factor, and fabrics that wrinkles will come out of or that we can iron...
Thanks for starting this thread Baloo, you are great! I love these ideas and I will have to check out the links. I will check back here often!

Thank you for sharing this. My niece's birthday is on Halloween. We always have a costume party of course. I help with preparation and at the party so I need something easy to wear. But the best part is I got a shirt for myself, one for DH and then I got 2 more for my DOGS! We will be so cute and best of all it is fast, easy, comfortable and CHEAP!

Yes, we are all going to dress up! Three adults, girls 5, 7, 8 and boy 15 months. We plan on adding simple, but outlandish additions to our brightly colored regular Disney wear. I keep finding brightly colored things at the Dollar Store; dayglo hair braids on elastics, anything that lights up, sparkles face paint, etc. On October 20th, relatives of the world famous entertainer "Sunny Eclipse" will land at MK.... sort of traveling Space Alien Hippies. So if you are there....look for us.........wow, this is going to be fun. It will be my 1st Disney Halloween party.

Last year the whole family went as Dalmations.I took white shirts and dotted the black spots with a round sponge.wore white shorts. At Dollar Tree they had sets with ears, and tails which we pinned to our shirts. Also red and blue binding tape with round name tags.Of course DH and I were Perdita and Pongo. The kids followed with their favorite dalmation. It was easy, cool and comfortable. But beware if you go as dalamtions.Cruella and her hench men got into a shouting match with us.The henchmen came to drag DD into the parade. It was hysterical. We figured we were in trouble when all evening long CMs kept warning us of Cruella. Then as the parade was to start probably 10 CMs came to be with us.
Remeber it's HOT and be comfortable

We are going with the Peter Pan theme.....DS3 will be Peter Pan, DD6 will be TInkerbell....desperately trying to convince DH to dress up as well, so he can be Captain Hook and I was thinking I could be Wendy. We will be at MNSSHP on 10/30. :daisy:

We have changed our minds in the way of costumes. The boys were going as the 3 Musketeers, which we had over from last year. Then it was the 3 stages of Darth Vadar from the 4th, 5th, and 6th movies.
Now we are going as chimney sweeps, DH will dress as Bert, and I will be Mary Poppins.
The chimney brooms will be made of black pipe cleaners and swiffer extendable handles wrapped in electrical tape. The costumes are easy, they need black everything pants, shirt, jacket, and hats. Their scarves will be their family assigned colors, blue, green, and red. My costume will be the hardest to make but mom sketched it out and can make her own patterns.
We are going on the 7th which is the day we arrive. I'm wondering if I should dress the boys before we get on the plane or after we get to the hotel. We land at 2pm and will have a driver waiting for us but our reservations for LTT are at 5:30. Do we have enough time to get 5 people ready and get to MK on time?

DD 7 is dressing as Princess Jasmine and DS 5 will be the bellhop from the TOT gramma is making both costumes. Dh and I are still deciding if al esle fails we'll wear the shirts I made from a previous post.

Hi all just a quick question...any costume ideas for a Verry pregnant 7months along woman?? thanks!! i'm also verrry short at 4'11" haha! my husband and i would like to go as a theme of some sort, but right now i'll take anything that fits!! DD will be minnie mouse! a board member told me about www.buycostumes.com and that's where we found it! thanks a bunch!

Not sure if this would work for you but here in the uk

we have a lot of speed humps/bumps in the road to slow traffic down...

I came up with an idea of using a black or red tshirt and drawing/painting/ stitching two white triangles either side of your "bump" < bump > and then put
a "slow" speed bumps ahead sign on your DH's shirt...

Don't know what you think....

Toni
