We got our vouchers in our inbox today!!! Yay!!! Printing them right now. Our trip isn't until October, but I don't want to take any chances. Also its a good idea to save the pdf file to your hard drive, just in case.

Would you mind telling me what your assigned day was (the day the blankets were "due") and how long after that date did you receive your vouchers? Thanks and yay for you!

We had our date at the 24th, and the email came yesterday in my email.

I'm still working on the last couple but here are pix of the finished ones. We used clearance and cheap Wal-Mart fleece, they were $2.87 and $4.44 per yard. We still spent $90 as we had to do 2 yard double-sided blankets. Shipping is going to be a fortune!

We made 5 double sided blankets and I shipped them fedex. it only cost me 14.00 with signature required.

I let my 9 year old ds do his own and the cuts are certainly not perfect. I was worried about that too but figured they knew that a 9 yo was doing it, so I guess they knew what they would get.

We did them for the SanAntonio chapter if someone is still looking. It's 2 single layer per person, 2 yrds each. But you only cut on the top and bottom of it.

Wanted to let everyone know who is doing this that the fleece sets are half off at Jo Ann's this week. They were 2yards. I bought two and I have to go back and get two more this weekend.

My thought was to use up the basket of misc. thread we have but its taking FOREVER. We only have 2 done so far out of 6

I can totally relate to this! We chose to do quilts (2 for my family, FIVE for my aunt/uncle & cousins who are going with us this summer) because we had access to lots of material at no cost. But it took FOREVER to get those things cut, pieced, quilted (we did do machine quilting), binding put on, etc. In the end, though, they turned out so cute and I know that some kid will be really happy when they get them. At least they better be!

I can't believe each chapter required different rules. My chapter was only 1 single fleece blanket per person 36x 45 or 45x60. I'm glad because we are mailing our out. We bought the fleece today and it came out to $25 for all three. We are making 1= 36x45 and 2= 45x60.

I thought all three fleece were 50% off but only two were. the 3rd one was only 30% but the girl had already cut it.We discussed donating 3 fleece blanket per year at x-mas time.

Can you tell me which chapter you signed up with?

Does anyone know what the requirements are for non-fleece blankies? I just signed up but haven't heard from anyone yet. It said on the sign-up no fleece. Do they want knitted, quilted, etc.? Also, do they require any proof that you did it yourself? Just askin.... This was the only opportunity in our area that my 6 year old qualified for.

Each local chapter appears to have different specifications so you will have to see what your local chapter wants, or sign up for one that you can mail them to.

If you can not find opportunities in your area try other areas and ship. Each group has different requirements. If you search zipcode 21155, area of interest Hunger and Homelessness- You will see an opportunity through Binky Patrol. Click show details to see their requirements. You can arrange to ship blankets. These go to homeless shelters and children's hospitals.

had a pattern for fleece, one layers. you use a seam ripper to make a hole on each peice of fringe and then loop it through. it looks so neat...no knots to come undone.

We got ours done in one evening. Our local chapter required 2 single layer blankets for each volunteer. I did the cutting and three boys, (ok, young men 19, 20, 21) did the tying.

Great deal for everyone.

I also got my fabric at JoAnn's for 50% off yesterday.

I used a rotary cutter for the fringe and then used it to make the holes to loop through. Just use a small one and push straight down. It makes a small slit and is super fast.

For some reason I cant get my pic to show up.

Are you checking out the Georgetown chapter? I contacted the lady and they must be double layer non-fleece only cotton fabric. I ended up finding a chapter that would let me do the fleece blankets in another state and they said I could mail them. I just really don't have the time and patience to teach my kids to use a sewing machine. I think this chapter is looking more for quilts.
