I'd like to see a picture of your Give a Day Project Linus Blankets. We made ours this weekend and I want to see how they compare before I send them in.

Thanks!

Maggie

OK. Here are our blankets. Did we do them correctly??

Yours look beautiful! Your edges are way better than mine, although I did try hard to make them even!

I did two fleece no-sew, like yours, and then two baby blankets made of flannel. I actually do not sew, though (I am scared of the machine sewing through my fingers:eek:) I have a hand-held seam maker, and even watched a YouTube video on sewing an easy blanket, but I chickened out and had my mom do it. Unfortunately, one of them had really uneven seams where the binding slid. But I still got back a nice note thanking me for the beautiful blankets!:flower3:

Both my kids got blankets when they were hospitalized (one as a preemie in the NICU and one as a 2 year old). I SO appreciate those blankets! They will always be special to me!:wizard:

How do I find details on the project Linus? My girls and I want to make blankets. Also how long does the process take as we are leaving in 3 weeks.

Love the Mickey Head one.

It looks like you cut your slits more than 3 inches? That might have been easier to tie if we had done that.

We are a family of 4 so we had to make 12 blankets. It was so much fun!

Yes, I believe our slits were 4 inches. We had an assembly line going as my parents joined us for this project and made four others I didn't get pictures of. My dad was the cutter! I highly recommend the plastic premade template you put over the material. It made 10 blankets very easy to do. Of course, once you buy the template, self healing mat and roller you have spent another $30-40.

Oh. I didn't know there was a template!!! I just followed the directions on the Project Linus site and made my own template from a piece of cardboard. Plus I used scissors instead of a cutting mat. Although I have a mat and roller cutter. I just didn't think to use them!

Everyone's blankets are so cute!!

I didn't get a good picture of the finished products, but here are a few that I did get. We made two fleece/tie ones and I knit one.

I thought each family member had to make one blanket. Was I misinformed, or are you doing projects for more than one day? I guess I was also under the impression that you could only do Give-a-Day-Get-a-Day for one day... am I again misinformed?

Thanks for setting me straight, if I'm wrong :)

I thought I read that each person had to make 2 blankets.

Does anyone have a rough estimate of how much it costs to make one of the fleece blankets?

Everyone's looks so great!

They all look great! As a pediatric nurse at a hospital, I just want to thank you all for making these blankets. Our kids absolutely love the Linus Blankets. And honestly, these are soo much nicer than some of the ones we've recieved.

It depends on who you go through to do your day of service. I signed up for the national Project Linus (for USA residents) and the requirement was one blanket per person. Some of the local area ones were requiring more.

I bought one of the kits you can get at JoAnn Fabrics for $5 when they were on sale. I bought it awhile ago for my girls to make for my nephew when he was born. But they never made it, so I used it for this! The kit has 2 pieces of fleece and the intent was to make a 2 layer blanket tied together. But the project Linus blankets only required one layer. So I took the 2 pieces and made 2 blankets out of them. If you notice on mine, one blanket is patterend and one is plain. They were meant to go together.

Buy some fleece on sale or get a remnant. Don't forget to use one of the 50% off JoAnn coupons or 40% off Michaels coupon.

Thanks :)

We had to make 1 per person. I cut 4" slits 1.5" apart. We tried 2" apart but it was a little harder to tie. I bought a mat and a roller cutter, that made it easier.

My dd loved the blankets so much that I made her a Tink one for Valentine's day, then made small ones for her dolls. She loves them all. For her doll ones, I tried tying the edges but it didn't look right so for 2/3 I just left the edges cut.
