Post your FL updates here

Very windy and rainy here in Tampa, but we still have power at our house! :) :) :)

My parents are in Dunnellon Florida - northwest of Orlando. I haven't been able to get them on the phone for about an hour now. Anyone nearby there have any update? I assume they've lost power.

My parents are living in Orlando, near Universal, they've lost power, but their phone service is still working.

I'm here in Orlando, closer to Disney, we lost power for about 20 seconds, but it's back on, and we also still have phone service.

The Orange County curfew has been extended to 6am tommorrow (was scheduled to be lifted at 5pm today)

Windy (35mph winds) + higher gusts in St. Augustine.

Lots of rain + flooded streets in town.

The usual trees & power lines down (ok,ok, not the USUAL ones. Different ones this time..................... :p )

Had a tornado just south of town about an hour ago. Some structural damage, but fortunately no injuries.

Still here in Jacksonville. Just lots of rain and wind. Our front yard looks like a lake. So far so good (knock wood) we still have power.

We lost power about 8:00 am this morning. At 10:00am, the TV news indicated sustained winds at 45mph and gusts of 67mph in our town.

Definitely the strongest storm I've ever lived thru.

I'm at my office checking things out. Our power is out, but our generator is running. Here's hoping the fuel will last until the power gets restored.

We were out 4 days at home/5 days at work for Francis. They say that it will take much longer for this one, because so many of the crews are up north for Ivan.

Hard to complain when you see others with damage to their house - I just hate having to drive 20 minutes to my in-laws to get a shower....

Take care, everyone...

I posted on another thread that I managed very well through this storm. I lost power at about 9:15 last night, only to get it back at 12:00 this afternoon!!!! :teeth: :hyper: Boy, was I happy about that!!! :bounce:

I'll tell you, if I have to go through one more storm this season, I'll be ready for the funny farm!!!!! :p

South Palm Beach county was barely touched by Jeanne, thankfully!!! :teeth:

They say the winds are 37 mph right now. But they sure feel A LOT stronger! I find 37 mph hard to believe as strong as the wind STILL is. I went in the front yard and I was tempted to try laying into the wind to see if I would fall or not. I bet it is almost that strong.
One segment of our side fence finally did give away. And the fence is only a year old. The nails were long. They were just pulled right out from the post.

We are in NW Broward county. We didn't lose power this time, but did have some more tree damage. It was windy and rainy here, but I didn't hear the "freight train" sound from the wind this time. During Frances we got very little rain, definitely had more this time. I think we did really well though, much better than Frances. I'm happy!

I hope that this is the last time for this season.

Well, I "rode this one out" in NJ, but have updates from talking to friends down there for the past couple of days...

Vero Beach. Decimated. My friend lives in one of two mobile homes left standing in the entire park of 600 some homes. She had gone inland to stay with friends. They lost power around 4:00 yesterday afternoon. Transformers were blowing out left and right (I heard two go while I was on the phone with her), she's lived in Vero Beach for going on 20 years and says she's NEVER heard wind like she did last night.

Jacksonville, lots of wind and rain, tornado warnings are the biggest fear. Power still on as of a bit ago when I talked to my friend there. 7:42pm update, power intermitent, very rainy and windy. Phone service intermitent.

Windemere. Incredible wind. Friends might have lost the roof on a four year old house. Waiting to hear back from them.

Clermont, heavy winds , lots of rain. Scattered power outages (friends from 1/2 mile away went to our house to have borrowed our generator and make a pot of coffee--the important things in life!) The people across the street from them lost lots of shingles and had water damage. Lake Louisa Road virtually impassable with down branches and an almost down power line. 7:40pm update--still "wicked" winds in Clermont, still no power in parts of Clermont, cable seems to pretty much be out all over town.

We lost power at 7:30 this morning and got it back at 2:00.

We got quite a bit of rain, but the wind was incredible. We were getting hurricane force winds here. Many, many of the tarps put up on the roofs after Charley are gone. A lot of debris went flying around today, but no pinecones because we don't have any left.

There was some flooding in downtown Punta Gorda and that's never good.

All in all, it wasn't that bad. After riding out Charley in our home, nothing bothers us anymore.

Here in Champions Gate, we lost power for about 13 hours. It went out at about 4am. We lost our phone at about the same time. Power came back at about 5pm today. Phone was soon to follow. Phone and cable blinked out sporadically throughout the evening.

Right now at a little after 10pm, the wind has died down. It looks again as if we were lucky in this area.

Our friend just around the corner had the wind drive rain into his roof vents. This left some water spots on the ceiling, but he says they are drying. He lost 3 roof shingles otherwise.

My parents are here in Vermont right now. They live between Ocala and Orlando. They recieved a call from their neighbor earlier this evening - their roof is gone. The neighbors said they watched the wind just peel it away.

So, as soon as MCO opens we need to book them on a flight home.

I got an email from a friend in Boston who has a condo in Atlantis just outside West Palm Beach. The management company called her and told her that part of the roof came off and that the end units had extensive flooding. Her unit is on the second floor (of about 5 floors), but it is an end unit. She was told that all of the rooms in her condo had standing water and extensive damage.

There are a lot of elderly widows who live in this complex year round. My friend inherited it from her mother who died in the past year. It is very sad.

You might also want to look at sending them to TPA--a little further, but it might very likely open sooner with less backlog. Also, not sure where in VT you are, but keep your options open on departing airports, BTV, MHT, or even ALB.

So sorry they are going through this.

This was by far the most wind we have received, but not as much downed trees. Francis took care of them. WE lost power at 8 am but it was back at 9pm. There is a downed line in front of my house but I think it's cable. I called FPL just in case and reported it.

Schools are closed Monday. My DH has to report for work though. Since the SKyway Bridge is still closed he's going to have to make a detour through Tampa. I spoke with a friend in Riverview and they had roof damage and lots of big trees down. We will probaly see lots of flooding when high tide comes around this morning.

I know most of us Flroidians are exhausted so here's prayers for some good rest! ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!
