Well, I "rode this one out" in NJ, but have updates from talking to friends down there for the past couple of days...
Vero Beach. Decimated. My friend lives in one of two mobile homes left standing in the entire park of 600 some homes. She had gone inland to stay with friends. They lost power around 4:00 yesterday afternoon. Transformers were blowing out left and right (I heard two go while I was on the phone with her), she's lived in Vero Beach for going on 20 years and says she's NEVER heard wind like she did last night.
Jacksonville, lots of wind and rain, tornado warnings are the biggest fear. Power still on as of a bit ago when I talked to my friend there. 7:42pm update, power intermitent, very rainy and windy. Phone service intermitent.
Windemere. Incredible wind. Friends might have lost the roof on a four year old house. Waiting to hear back from them.
Clermont, heavy winds , lots of rain. Scattered power outages (friends from 1/2 mile away went to our house to have borrowed our generator and make a pot of coffee--the important things in life!) The people across the street from them lost lots of shingles and had water damage. Lake Louisa Road virtually impassable with down branches and an almost down power line. 7:40pm update--still "wicked" winds in Clermont, still no power in parts of Clermont, cable seems to pretty much be out all over town.
