Just in case anyones interested I take a small pocket tripod for my digital camera and set it up on any available bin, post, rock etc taking the pic with the timer. As long as your not taking photo's in a really busy walk-way most people are pretty good at letting you get your shot. It's also worth offering your services to other guests, especially those doing swapsie photos of each other in front of the castle and such as most of the time they are more than happy to do the same back.
