I'm interested in this as well. I love my USA Today app, and Angry Birds (there is a free lite version). I also love Weatherbug. I have apps on my iPod Touch that I love as well that I don't need internet acess for - Scrabble, Solitare, Angry Birds are the ones I use most. I am looking for a good bar scanner app.

Netflix App for iphone/ipod touch

Disney's Gift Card App

Allrecipes.com Dinner Spinner

Shazamm. It can tell you any song that is playing on the radio by "listening" to it.

Lose It- Great diet tool, activity and calorie tracker. One of my favorites.
Groupon-Sign up for deals in a local city near you.
Flixster-Movie ratings, theaters and DVDs.
White Pages-Obviously looks up business and individual numbers and addresses.
Dictionary.com-look up and also pronounces words.
AroundMe-Great tool. Looks up nearby restaurants, hospitals, theaters, gas stations and more.
Urbanspoon-looks up restaurants and you can read reviews from other customers.

So many more. I really love my iphone.

WOW! The "aroundme" is AWESOME! Thanks! :thumbsup2

Cardstar - I love this one. You put all your reward cards (pharmacy, stores, hotels) and you don't have to carry around a wallet full of cards. They can just scan the bar code right on your phone!

 No Way!! <runs to iTunes to check that out>

I have SoundHound. I love it (pretty sure it was free, I got it back when I was downloading apps in *anticipation* of an iPhone ;))

Espn Radio (plays 24 hr sports talk, if you like that kind of thing)
MLB (they even have a free game to watch every night in season)
Weatherbug (good radar map when storms coming in)
Showtimes for movies
NYTimes, CNN, USA today, NPR news
WDW waits
Southwest (great for checking in for flights)
People (for the gossip lover in me)
Starbucks mobile card (so cool you can pay with just your phone)
Groupon (you don't have to have the printouts - very handy!)
CBS Sunday morning because I love their stories
Living social Daily Deals

ps: once you get one apple product, you'll never want any other kind again.

I think all these were free, but it's been so long for some, I can't be 100% sure. Enjoy your iphone - you are going to LOVE it!!

Freeappaday, you can check daily for the latest free apps.

It is usually 1.99 to buy, but as of today, its FREE ! lol

I also like appshopper, but can't remember if it is free or not. You can get the latest apps on sale.

any type of budget app?

I love acebudget light. I also like pageonce bills, it's great for getting reminders that bills are due.

Some of my other free favs are:

Shazam
Facebook
Words Free
Key Ring (like card star)

My kids have a bunch of educational apps and games too.

SoundHound much better than Shazaam. Shazaam limits you to 5 tags a month unless you buy their app at an inflated price. Not worth it at all.

I just got Instagram today. It seems cool so far. You can add filters to the pictures you take.

Southwest Airlines has an official free app. You can check in from your phone at the 24 hour mark to get that A boarding pass! You can print later, even from the airport kiosk. I checked into a flight from Pecos Bills last year.

The Kindle app. You can then download free (or cost) Kindle books from amazon.com and they will go straight to your phone, or you can download books from the phone.

Redbox has an official app. You can reserve movies from your phone and then go pick them up from the kiosk you designate.

SparkPeople has an official app. SparkPeople.com is a free website that has food journals, activity journals, and community boards for weight loss. The app lets you track your food intake.

Facebook has a free, official app. It's froze on me multiple times, though. Like the rest of Facebook, it's great when it's working...which for me lately is rarely.

AT&T has an app to check my usage information. I'm sure most mobile carriers have this.

Chase bank has an app to check my balance. I'm sure most banks have this also.

ESPN Score Center. I can pick my favorite teams and set it to send me score updates during the games my teams play.

Most news sites have free apps. I have one for 2 local news stations. One even sends me breaking news.

If you have a trip coming up, I think most airlines and shuttles and hotel chains have apps also. Those might be good for those specific purposes.

I have the free Angry Birds, but also ended up buying both regular Angry Birds and Angry Birds Seasons. I think they are 1.99 or 0.99 each.

Thank you for this. I downloaded it last night. :thumbsup2

Actually, I downloaded a LOT of free apps last night, all thanks to this thread! :lmao:

Timely thread! I finally got an ipod touch yesterday too!

So far I have downloaded talktext for texting and I have downloaded a paid app for Ooma so that I can call folks and it will show up as my home number.

The kids have downloaded some free game apps so far (I am having to FIGHT them for time on MY ipod! LOL!)

Keep 'em comin'!

Dawn
