Post your "Don't forget it's free!!!" tips here!

The Autopia cars are randomly awarded via the driver's licenses everyone who rides receives. Good luck! :sunny:

On our second trip as a family to DL, ds actually got a winning license. We had ridden this ride maybe 3 times on this trip. Upon redeeming his license for the actual prize, the cast member actually gave him 2 cars (one for his sister, my dd). That was really nice of the cast member and it made her day to have a car just like her big brother. On our last trip, we were celebrating our ds's 7th bday and he was wearing a bday sticker. I noticed the castmember pull his license from the bottom of the stack of licenses. And lo and behold, it was a winning license. Hooray, 3 cars now in the family. I really don't think that that was standard practice (what the cast member did-pulling from the bottom), though.

Yes, they are Mardi Gras beads. I'm not sure which groups give them away, but they don't hand out that many.

The foam balls shoot out of the big floats in Block Party Bash at the end of the show. Just wait by one of the tall floats and you should be able to grab one or two. The characters also toss a few into the crowd, but don't count on getting any that way. When we have nothing better to do, my wife and I have followed the parade around to catch more balls. When I get extras, I usually give them to kids who didn't manage to catch one.

They aren't quite the size of tennis balls. They're closer to golf balls. Nerf is printed on one side and Block Party Bash is on the other side. Nothing that special. They come in red, green, blue, yellow, and maybe some other colors.

Thanks for the info! I think this is something DS, who'll just turn 14 before we go might enjoy trying to catch a few.

Re: Mardi Gras beads, you can get them from the Delta Daddy-Os when they perform in New Orleans Square. They're a great group, 4 guys who sing Temptations-style, doo-wop songs. They're not listed in the program, but you can get the times from the information booth.

Any more "freebies" or fun things like the ones listed. We leave in 25 days for DL. Love all these ideas. :thumbsup2

This may be really pushing it, but I always grab a few extra napkins for home. My kids love getting a Disney napkin in their lunch. It's a sweet memory in the middle of a school day

OMG!!! :teeth: :teeth: We're not the only ones who do this!?!?!?!?!? :rotfl2: :rotfl2: You're right---they certainly brighten up a school lunch!

i love the napkin idea ! i may not want to share with the kids!

Wow, these tips are awesome! We always grab a few extra napkins when we eat out (with DS-now2! and DS5, it's always best to have plenty.) What is on the Disney napkins? A character, or does it just say 'Disneyland', it's just a reminder of the trip? Either way, it's a great idea. :)

I'm so glad I'm not the only napkin thief! The napkins always have some neat picture. It was a castle with 50th last time I went. I grab napkins from all our trips - zoos, museum... I'm always looking for a cheap thrill

AS my freinds son says.. I am too cheap to buy napkins...

I brought him home a stack of 50th ones from DL as a birthday gift. He just smiled...

Although I did find one today from MGM at WDW in 2003. The prime time cafe. They are really sturdy also!

Also how do you know if you have a winning Autopia License?

not really a freebie but a fastpass is good anytime after the initial return time.
also ap holders get a free pin with a $34 (or something like that) purchase at the restaruants in dl (at least on main street. not sure about others.) but then again if you have an ap you probly knew that already.

We save the mouskemeal ears/lunch boxes. The ears can be used over and over again for the kids lunches etc. once returning home :thumbsup2:

A few times I've asked the restaurant manager at both Rancho Del Zocalo & The Carnation Plaza if we could purchase a stack of the mouskemeal ears - I've never had to pay but have been given 25 - 30 at a time.

For those of you with little ones - There is a mother's lounge (sorry can't recall the name) on Main Street. They provide free wipes, Balmex at their changing stations if needed. There is only a minimal cost if extra diapers, a bottle, formula, pacifier etc. are needed. A VERY cool feature for moms who've run short on baby supplies during their stay!

You all are not cheap!
I got my DD, 21 ,a "set" of "silver"wear from WDW a few trips ago.... so she had napkins, AND place setting!

And a few also followed me home.... Really, I only got her a set of 4 knifes, spoons and forks.... and of course, the napkins... good thing they don't have plastic tablecloths!

When we were there 1 1/2 weeks ago we ate at the restaurant next to SOARING OVER CALIFORNIA. They ran out of the little boxes for the kids meal so they were handing out GOOFY activity books. They retail for $5 each...I know because I bought some last summer. It's worth going by there to see if they are still doing that. :yay:

Can someone describe these? Anyone got a picture, I am curious as I have never seen them. Our last trip to DL was pre-child so I was oblivious to all the children orientated things. Now I am desperately searching for things to make DS trip memorable...LOL how things change!

Cheers
Angela

I too would like to know what the "mouskemeal ears/lunch boxes" are and what they look like, especially the mouskemeal ears. We leave in 23 days and am trying to get all my info together. :sunny:
