I've been reading some recent posts about the characters people like the best, where to meet them and how to interact with them. Now my next question is: What do they look like? I know some of the characters are in full character suits, and some are just dressed up (like the princesses).

So post your favourite character pictures! :)

Here's some of my favorites from my Character Photo Galleries:

Oh, those are all great!!! :)

Originally, I didn't think we'd bother with character pictures, but the more I see, the more I want to meet the characters!!

The characters are a lot of fun, even if you don't get the autographs.
They like hearing about themselves, so if you can
play around with them referencing their movie,
they love it.

Herc was very funny! He really hammed it up
when he saw our video camera, flexing his
muscles and smiling really big.

Donald at the Sorceror Hat in MGM.
My DD got a huge hug from Donald!

The White Rabbit was my favorite character
during our last trip. He was so sweet, he
danced with my daughter, twirling her around
to applause from all the autograph seekers.
Then he gave DD a huge hug and a loud kiss.
Yes, we heard a smmmmck when he kissed her.

And finally, Alice and the "Manhatten". They
insisted DD was Ariel, asking her all kinds
of questions about Flounder and King Triton.
Very funny!

I don't have any pictures with me, but I strongly encourage you to interact with the characters. Many of them will make child(ren) feel like they are the most important people at the park. My five year-old looked forward to every encounter.

Our son's experience was made even better because of his Mickey ears he wore all week. The characters would toy with them, etc. Mickey really liked them.

And, even cooler than that, was the encounter he had with Chip, who is his favorite character. He had his Chip plush with him when he met Chip. Well, ol' Chip really liked that. Made a big deal out of it.

While I'm here, I'll bore you with a couple of more stories. Minnie gave him a kiss! When I told her she looked very pretty, she reacted shyly. Very cute.

We were lucky enough to be at MGM during a Star Wars weekend. Darth Vader was very intimidating, as you can imagine, but the picture we took is priceless. I told Darth I knew he was really a good guy down deep. He turned away from me brusquely.

Only two more, I promise.

We went to Mickey's Backyard BBQ. The emcees are a man and woman, dressed in cowboy garb. When the woman signed my son's autograph book, she also kissed it. A big, ruby red lip plant! As she got next to my son for a picture, he looked at her, and backed away. She said, "Don't worry, honey, I won't kiss you." He stepped back next to her, she put her arm around him, and with two big smiles, a great picture came out.

Last, is the picture we got of both my sons with Luke Skywalker. Our older son is 15. When we was younger son's age (5), Luke was his hero. He started signing his school papers "Luke", and only quit after his teacher sent a letter home asking us to talk to him about it. So funny! Anyway, when we saw Luke Skywalker at MGM, we got a picture with both boys. He was a real nice guy. No one was around, so we talked to him for a couple of minutes. Now, when we look at the picture it just reminds us of another fond memory.

Having said all that, just remember a couple of things:

When you see the characters in the park, they are generally available for just a short period, and lines for autographs can get long quickly. So, be ready when its your turn. And, if you are turned away, just take it in stride. Chances are, you'll get another chance later.

Character greets at meals are fun because you get to spend a little more time with the characters. But, generally speaking, the characters at the meals are the more famous ones. You just have to be lucky to see characters like Jiminy Crickett.

I have come to like character greetings. We even made up a really great autograph book. You may be able to see it in some of the photos. Here is the link to the character photo album. Be aware there are ALOT of them from 2 different trips: Character Photo Album

Glad to see you have been converted!! The character encounters/photos are truly some of the best and most "magical" moments of our vacations at the World!! Even pre-kids we loved the characters!! I personally would give up rides before I would give up meeting the characters. Have fun and post some photos when you get back!.........................P

I really hope i can convert dh a little more after seeing these great pics! We don't have that many with characters b/c he doesn't like to stand in line for that lol. I am going to show him this thread and hopefully in sept he will be more entusiastic about "making memories".:teeth:

The characters are the bits I'm looking forward to the most. I've only ever been to Disneyland Paris and found the lack of characters a bit disapointing (this was 8 years ago though!!) Although one of the best moments of that holiday (and my DH still talks about it proudly today!) was when Minney Mouse pinched my DH's bottom whilst I was taking their photo :p

Here is Abbey with Aladdin and Jasmine last month (June 2004).
