Post when your sporting event is (cheerleading/marathons, etc)

I know there is a certain time of year when lots of cheerleaders come and stay at the All-Star resorts. Does anyone know when that is, and what resort they usually go to? We plan on going in February at a value resort before the rates go up, and would rather not spend most of our evenings listening to cheerleaders practice. I know I know, there are only a few bad seeds that ruin it and most girls are quite, polite and just fine---just looking for information. thanks


**edited to add I've learned there are several large groups (marathon runners/sporting groups/etc) Thought it would be helpful if people added when they were going for their group, and where they were staying

We were there with my daughters cheerleading squad in March.....it was our spring break so....March 15 - 18th. I think there are different things going on with sports for a lot of March. We stayed at AS Sports and found there were other teams besides cheerleaders.

Yikes! From what I've read it sounds like there is more than one big event. I'm going to change my title to ask people to post when their big sporting event is in January/February.

I know that the week of T'giving, the UCA All Star Cheerleaders stay at the All Star resorts--they are in the MK parade on T'giving day.

Dont forget us dancers too!!! LOL! My DD14 will dancing in the Thanksgiving Parade for UDA. It is mostly cheerleaders but there are a few dancers in there also.

I can tell you of Just a few Cheerleading competitions in the Orlando area that I know of for this comping 2007. Its not just Disney hotels for instance our teams are staying at the Nick suites hotel this year (all 4 teams!!)

BAMAFAN ...It's all good!!!! My DD10 wants to cheer instead of dance! Oh the horror! LOL!! I personally love watching both so i would be happy either way. DD14 has competed for the last 6 yrs. so a change would be very nice!

There seems to be a sporting event going on every month. Just don't let that stop you from going to WDW. If you want to stay at a value, stay at POP. Pop is not set up for the sports teams. At least that is what I was told the last time we stayed there.

Thought I'd give this a little bump........

Anyone know when Pop Warner stuff is?? I don't know anything about what Pop Warner is, just heard it's crowded then.

Pop Warner is usually the first week(end) in December.

The thing is, Disney shuffles the hotels for the teams around -- usually it is one of the All-Stars (and maybe some rooms at CBR), but it is not the same one each year. My daughter's cheer team has stayed at Sports and Movies the last two trips (we didn't go with them). To be honest, she wants to stay with her team and I'm even scared to stay with the cheerleaders after reading stuff on this board. Our team is 5-9 year-olds and their parents, so they'll be in bed early, but I know others have teenagers with much less supervision.

If you really want to avoid large conventions, I would suggest calling the resort you want to stay at and asking if there are large conventions coming in at that time (we do this with hotels in Hawaii, for example).
