Post Trip Report
Having finally finished detailing each day of our trip, I dont know which was more tiring, the trip or writing about it! It was fun remembering each day and some of the moments that stuck out in my mind. Its funny to think about some of the stuff that I didnt write about .our awesome pin trading experience (I even had to do it this time) and some of the great limited edition pins that we found (by accident!) .DDs agonizing decisions in trying to spend the $50 in Disney Dollars that she received as a gift from her grandparents (If I buy this, how much money will that leave me? & Why do all of the stuffed animals have to be so expensive?!!) .the many, many pressed pennies that we collected (thanks for the film canister case idea!) .and a lot of the interactions that we had with many CMs as well as guests.
Reality finally sunk in Saturday night after we had returned. DD woke up in the night & started crying. She was dreaming about Disney and was missing the castle and the princesses. We calmed her down and got her back to sleep, but the incident repeated itself Sunday afternoon and Sunday night. I finally told her that we shouldnt be sad, because each day that we go through is one more day closer to returning to WDW. We even compiled a list of things that we want to do on our next trip (never too early to plan!) and weve listed them on this page.
I was a little bummed out returning to work on Monday morning. Maybe it was the Tree of Life and Soarin music that I had listened to on the way in (bought a CD before I left), maybe it was the fact that we didnt board a bus on our way to a park, or maybe it was the harsh reality of going back to the day to day grind of life. WDW certainly is an escape into a magical world with no worries (Hakuna Matata) & where everyone can be a kid again. I cant wait to go back.
So, its time to look back on our pre trip report goals and see if we accomplished what we had set out to do:
1. Ride Soarin at EPCOT.
*Check this one off! We rode it three times and enjoyed each one!
2. Having never been to AK before, enjoy the time there with my animal loving DD.
*The negative reviews are wrong! We had a very special time there & really enjoyed taking in as much of the animal interactions as we could.
3. Eat as much ice cream as possible, from as many different places as we can!
*Forgot to mention this in the reports, but we had a TON of ice cream!
4. Since my true princess had to stay behind, settle for pictures with Ariel & Belle
*Not only did I get photos with Ariel and Belle, but even Cinderella and Jane Porter!
5. Obtain as many pressed pennies as funds will allow
*We filled two empty 35mm film cans with quarters & pennies and ended up with around 28 pressed pennies & a new book to put them in!
6. Get as many character autographs as we can
*We ended up with 42 autographs including some new ones (Mulan, Mushu, Aurora and Jane Porter)
7. Most importantly, make DD feel like a princess and give her a trip to remember forever.
*DD said she definitely felt like a princess, especially on the first night with the hairdo, cruise and meeting with Cinderella. We have enough memories, photos, video and journals to ensure this trip stays with us forever.
Overall, mission accomplished! But of course, there were a few things that we didnt get to do which we compiled in a list below. We also put a few other lists on here that you may or may not find interesting:
Things we missed and have to do on our next trip to WDW
1. See the Birds of Flight show in Animal Kingdom
2. Ride Kali River Rapids in Animal Kingdom
3. See the Indiana Jones Stunt Show at MGM
4. See Cinderellabration at MK
5. Buy the book and look for a bunch of Hidden Mickeys
6. Visit Tom Sawyer Island in the morning and retrieve a paintbrush
7. See a performance of Cirque du Soleil
Most Magical Moments of the trip
1. The Wishes cruise Celebrating a wedding, seeing an engagement and watching the amazing MK show all on a boat in WDW. Amazing.
2. Daddy, maybe the princesses are real If that statement doesnt summarize what Disney World is all about, I dont know what could.
3. DD acting out Fantasmic with her new Sorcerer Mickey back at the room after seeing the show. I think DD found a new hero
4. The response that our shirts generated at the MK. From being called the Incredibles, to having people ask us where we bought the shirts at, to the princesses saying how awesome they were. We will definitely make shirts again.
5. The CMs and guests that we encountered. I have never been around such a kind & fun environment in my life. Way to put on a great show, Disney!
Three things that wed like to see improved before our next trip
1. The package pickup process at the Pop Century Resort. Total mess when more than two people are trying to pick up at once.
2. Biometrics! This really slows down the entrance process, there has to be a better way.
3. The selection of gifts for your pet. This is a market that I think could really explode if they had the right selection.
List of Rides/Attractions that we visited more than once:
9 visits Rock N Rollercoaster
5 visits Space Mountain
3 visits Soarin
Buzz Lightyear
Tower of Terror
2 visits Spaceship Earth
Test Track
Tomorrowland Transit Authority
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
Haunted Mansion
Mickeys PhilharMagic
Splash Mountain
