I have not read all of this thread, however, from what I am reading it seems most people are using an over the shoulder bag instead of a backpack. My husband and I used a backpack on our honeymoon and traded off during the day. On our last trip we had a stroller and where only there two days so I just used the dipper bag for everything.

This trip we will be going without a stroller and with three kids and three adults. I don't want to carry a lot but I will have three autograph books, camera and the basics. I was thinking two backpacks but now after seeing this post I am wondering if it would be better to get an over the shoulder bag for me and a backpack for my husband.

Please tell me your pros and cons for the backpack vs. the over the shoulder bag style.

For me, it's a matter of size. I want to use the SMALLEST bag possible but still fit everything. A backpack (at least the ones that I own-Jansport) are big and bulky and have to be moved or worried about during rides. The over the shoulder (baggallini bags & similar size) are small and can be worn or shifted to the side for rides & still fit everything I need.

This time I am taking an almost 3 year old (he is turning 3 on the trip) and I don't yet know if he will be out of diapers at that time. IF he isn't I will have more to carry but I think I can get away with using the stroller bag for diapers and wipes instead of carrying them in my shoulder bag.

After reading through this thread and looking at bags for WEEKS now, I STILL can't make a decision! HELP!!!

I bought a fossil bag years ago and like it because it is canvas but it starting to fray inside and I need a new one. It allows me to put a lot in the bag if I want or not and it will lay flatter (because it isn't 'structured'). The bag allows me to wear it across my body or shrink up the strap to wear it as a shoulder bag. At the time, my tiny phone fit in the side pocket but now my iphone is in the main compartment because of the size - and that's ok but not ideal.

Anyway, I've looked at so many of the bags and I'm just not finding what I want!! Can anyone recommend a bag that meets these requirements?:
- Across the body/over the shoulder (adjustable strap)
- Canvas/cloth (easy to either clean off or throw in the laundry)
- Neutral colors
- At least one outside pocket that is not zipped (or snapped if possible - just a pocket)
- Large enough to hold a wallet, sunglasses + case, keys, a small first aid/toiletrie bag, gum, small camera, and iphone
- Can 'expand' to hold a regular bottle of water + ziploc bag of snacks
- Hooks or loops somewher (like where the strap attaches to the purse) so I can loop on keychains or doo-dads

While I don't require it, it would be really cool if it could meet these requirments too:
- Outside pocket that will fit an iphone
- organizational pockets including a spot to put pens

I've looked at the baggallini bags and they peaked my interest but I'm not sure any of them are large enough without being a backpack or messenger bag. The 'Around the town' looked good, but the reviews included 'too small' and 'strap didn't work well'. And I don't want to spend that much money on a bag when it won't fit a water bottle or anything meaningful in an outside pocket.

Any thoughts??

I have used many different bags at WDW. Last year I picked up a Baggallini Uptown for our May trip. This was the perfect bag for me. In fact I have used it often since our trip and it still looks brand new. It is made of a nylon material...so it is somewhat water proof and easy to clean, adjustable crossbody strap ( can be adjusted very long , which works well for someone tall like me), They come in many colors, does have a big outside pocket but it has a zipper. Large enough to hold my camera, cell phone, 3 rain ponchos, small bottle of sunscreen and hand sanitizer, sunglasses, a few little bags of snacks and a bottle of water (inside the main compartment) which could be a little dangerous....I always made sure it was tightly closed. It has a zippered organizer pocket on the outside for money, tickets, credit cards etc. Even at times I carried my son's DSi

The Baggalini's are kinda expensive. I was lucky to get mine at TJ Maxx for 19.95 but really they are very good quality and I would pay much more. If you have a TJ Maxx near you keep checking I have seen them there several times since I got mine. Best of luck finding your perfect Disney Bag.

Check out the Overland Equipment Donner. I think it fits all of your needs, except the outside pocket for an iPhone. My favorite thing about this bag are the two outside pockets for water bottles. I carry water in one, and a mini umbrella in the other. There's a nice pocket in the back (no fasteners) that is perfect for park maps. Hope that works...its a wine bag, but it has 6 deep pockets and a zippered pouch. It was great since we have little ones and sippy cups slide down in the pockets perfectly. It was easy for them to check at the gates (only one zip) and the guards always commented on it.

ETA: I definitely take the cutting board and utencils out

First, let me say that I love how ebags shows the many different views of the bags and how someone would 'wear' it! So thank you to all who specifically list the bag they like because I'm serious when I say I look at ALL of them on bags!

The most I spent on my fossil bag (sale and all) was $35 and I was freaking out I know that a good bag is worth it though! I hadn't thought of the uptown bag because of the 'asymmetrical' look but after looking on it on ebags - it's cool! I'm definitely scouring my TJMAXX and if I don't find a good deal there a couple weeks before I leave, I'm going to buy a bag online. Thank you so much for responding to me!

I just got back from Disneyland and I wanted to share the bags that I took.
This is the one that I took to the parks and tours- I loved it! Not too big but big enough for the essentials and you can easily carry a water bottle in the side pocket. It is very lightweight too! It got the one called "ocean" it is not really the color in the picture- it is more of a teal color.

I love the Lug Life bags- they just feel right and are quality too.

My ipad fit perfectly in both also which is huge plus!

We just booked our trip for early August! Booking a trip means trying to decide if the Baggallini messenger I have will be the bag I use for the parks. It usually ends up being my go-to park bag. I've gone through many bags and none have measured up to the durability, comfort and the amount of "stuff" I can carry without being weighed down. I don't like having a bag at my hip. I love having my hands free. I love that I can easily swing the bag to the front if need be. It is an easy bag to get in and out of.

Even though I know all of this, it's a ritual to pour over bags and come up with pros and cons...even though Baggallini always wins!

I DO really like the Vera Bradley backpack though...hmmmmm...

This is the bag that I used for Disneyland last summer and I will use for the World in April. It was big enough...but not too big. I wanted a smaller bag, but then bought a bigger camera that wouldn't fit so I begrudgingly bought this bag and I ended up liking it! I have the picante color... not too neutral..

I do the same thing and i just wanted to say, take the Baggallini. I have 2 of them in different colors and they always win too. I bought the VB backpack last year (I have more VB bags than any 1 person should have LOL) because I loved it, and did a trial run ith it at 6 flags which didn't work out so well. It was kind of awkward to get into and just not even close to the Baggallini. I bring the VB hipster that I will sometimes use when we go back to the parks at night and I am carrying a lighter load and I want a nicer looking bag if we are gong to dinner, but the backpack wasn't that great at all. All that being said, I always check out this thread to see if anyone else has come up with anything new, it's a ritual for me too.

For our last trip to Disney in 2009 I carried my Crocs sling backpack. It worked great. It has a nice padded strap and a small zipper pocket on the strap that held our keys to the world perfectly. In side I carried a couple of bottles of water, sunscreen, my camera, and some snacks for dd. I'll be using again when we got back this July.

I've always used a silver Columbia school-type backpack that's not too big.... maybe 16x13x7 for our trips. Our May trip will consist of 6 of us - me, wife, 4 & 2y/o, and my parents. Likely to carry two bags, one for me and one for wife. She'll likely go the route of a diaper bag or maybe a baggallini messenger sling. Do most guys at the park still do backpacks?
