Today I'm going to take the exam, 460 I think it is, to see if I can't get me a job as the next Cliff Claven. Judging from the practice test they sent me, the answer would be no. I can't believe that they expect people to memorize all this stuff.
Has anyone else taken this? And passed? Any tips? :confused3

Test is fairly easy, if you're good with memorization.

DH has taken it twice, once up north and once here. First time was an 88, second time was a 96.

Are you applying for an RCA position? Be forewarned: the post office only guarantees you one day of week of work. In DH's post office in Maryland, he had 6 day work weeks pretty much from the day he started. However, when he got rehired down here in Florida, he was lucky if he got two-and that was EVERYBODY.

Good luck!

My DH just became a mail carrier. He's been there about 5 months now. He said the exam isn't that hard. He works 6 days a week and sometimes has to work express on Sundays. You get hired as a PTF (Part Time Flexible) but believe me you will get over 40 hours a week. My mom and stepdad have both worked at the Post Office for over 20 years.

One day a week is better than what I've got going on now. I see it as a foot in the door and I'm pretty patient. :teeth: I'm mostly worried about the memorization part. I'm really hoping it's not as bad as I'm making it out to be in my mind. I'm good for doing that. :rotfl:

Savsmommy, you and I were at WDW at the same time this past March. Don't know why I felt the need to point that out. :Pinkbounc I'm a dork.

Thanks for the well wishes!

MzDiz,

Then you should be fine! :teeth: Unfortunately, DH had to pay for the child care. Most weeks, the child care was more than he was bringing home-but we had to pay the weekly rate for 'just in case' care.

The memorization part really isn't that bad. You'll be fine.
