Post fireworks monorail to Polynesian

How long does it take to get from the hub to Polynesian after the fireworks (8 pm). We have Ohana at 9:10 pm and were also thinking of doing a pre dessert party for reserved viewing (only day I could book).

Should we stand at the end of Main Street (seems too crowded with small kids). Is it possible to take a cab? Any other strategies? Worse case we would leave MK at 7 pm and just watch from the Polynesian beach before our dinner.

I think that'd be really tight, if not impossible. I left MK right at close (on a non-fireworks, very low crowd night - it was the night of the VIP fireworks preview). It took me 30 minutes to get to GF, just one stop past Poly, and I got on the next monorail that pulled up. I imagine with much larger crowds, and that slowly moving herd after fireworks, will take even longer.

To take a cab, you'd have to walk to the Contemporary or take the ferry/monorail to TTC. Both of those options would add a lot of time.

The boat might be faster? If you can get on one quickly. I can't remember the if it goes to GF or Poly first on the way back... the upside to the monorail is that you're in the right place for 'Ohana and if in a hurry, not having to snake your way through the property and upstairs.

You can also walk using the grand Floridian walking path. From the hub to Ohana it’s about a mile and a half. So if fireworks ended at 8:20 you would have time for a pretty leisurely walk.

You also could leave enchantment 5 minutes early and be on one of the first boats or monorails after fireworks. It seems like only a few people leave early for any of the shows.

Between the boats (resort launches) and monorails, I’ve had better luck with the lines using the boats because they are more direct (only go to Poly and GF or Poly only) so naturally fewer people use them. And after fireworks they sometimes use bigger boats.

The other option would be to take the ferry boat to the TTC and then the walking path to the Poly. I doubt this would be faster than the resort launches, but would be a backup plan if the resort boats were not running for some reason.

I don’t think the desert party buys you any advantage in leaving because you are still behind the massive hoard on Main St. Best case scenario the bypass is open and you can go direct from the desert party through the bypass to town square, but you are still behind a bunch of people.

Our younger kids are not vaccinated yet, so I thought the dessert party would get us some space. We are not big dessert people and Ohana is a lot of food, so maybe the best strategy would be watching the fireworks from outside MK. I don’t know how easy it would be to leave the fireworks early, but we can start 5 min early I’ll keep trying to move Ohana to 3:30-4pm. This day is towards the end of the trip.

On our first MK day (earlier in the trip) we have BOG 6:15 pm and fireworks are at 8, so we thought we could catch the end of the fireworks from behind the castle. We’ve done that before for HEA and it gets so dark you can’t really move around and it feels like regular fireworks bursting all around you (no projections).

To top it off we have to deal with changing park hours.
