Just got home from the happiest place on Earth and I am so depressed!

I spent months planning our trip and making our ADRs. We (dh, ds4, ds2, mom and sis) had a WONDERFUL time! :cool1: The kids were great (only a couple of meltdowns) and the adults behaved themselves as well. Now the only thing that I have to show for the trip is four overflowing suitcases that need to be unpacked and a weeks worth of dirty laundry! :laundy:

Does anyone else go through this? My kids keeping asking if we can do that again. As in where is Mickey? Can we ride on Buzz? They are even having parades with their toys!

I am so glad that we got to go - the boys were so precious, especially with the characters. But what will I do with all my new found spare time? :sad2:

We went in June to Disney World. We had so much fun, and I had the same depressed feeling when we arrived home after our week long trip! It lasted a few days, and you will adjust to life back at home. The only thing to cure the blues is to start planning the next trip! We are going to go in October 2007 which seems so far away but I know it will come up quick!!! Have never been that time of year, and want to go to the MNSSHP with my two boys ages 9 and 6. I have been having fun doing my Disney scrapbook with all the pictures I took on the trip in June so that keeps me going! :sunny:

take up scrapbooking :artist:

that usally takes me tons of time after a trip, I am tlaking months, then by the time I am done witht he scrapbook, I can begin planning our next WDW vacation (we go yearly)

:thumbsup2

Oh, yes. I know that feeling well. I'm starting to get that feeling and we haven't even left yet! The culmination of months and months of planning just ends and it's all over before you know it. The best thing to help you get over it - plan another trip!

I'm depressed about being back from WDW... and I haven't even left yet! I'm leaving in 3 days, but I know once I get back I will swamped with work, school will start for my daughter, and life will just get generally very busy. I'm really looking forward to spending good quality time with my wife and daughter... what better place than the happiest one of all!

We were there in May and I still get depressed. But there is always another trip down the pike to start planning. I'm having to wait this year and see how much Financial Aid my DS17 will be getting for college before I let myself get into a Disney mood. But I have faith!

Yes!!!! That's why I had our next trip booked within days of coming back from the last trip, lol. It really did help, it gave something to look forward to after the letdown of coming home. And getting our pictures orgnanized, doing an online slideshow, digiscrapping, that all helped too.

Scrapbooking helps me a great deal!! I try to get dd involved too (ds isn't interested).

Since our next step is buying DVC (and we want to do it in cash) we'll start some kind of family saving program here at home (we already have a "Disney" jar - a 5 gallon water jug - maybe we'll make it our DVC jar!)

Thanks for all of your suggestions! I have never been a big scrapbooker but I bought some materials before I left to make one for our trip. I also stopped in at the store at Downtown Disney and picked up a few things from there. I will get that going and I think that will help. :sunny:

Pirate Dad, I don't know if you are a teacher, but my husband and I are and we too are swamped with getting ready for school. We have been home together all summer and, well, we love it! :cool1: It is hard to go back to work, let alone following a Disney trip! :sad2:

It will take some convincing of my husband, but I, too think that we will return to Disney sooner rather than later. We just had too much fun!

Thanks for all of the suggestions! It's good to know others have experienced the same thing. :grouphug:

I was never a "big scrapper" either, but wow I am now :rotfl:

I hear you loud and clear! I've been sad about this ever since we got back in March. We did an impromptu trip, so I didn't have much time to plan. It was fun to just go on a lark, but it also took away from all the planning time. Then the trip was over before I knew it. I really should start to plan for our next trip (hopefully in fall 2007).

I totally agree about scrapbooking. You can completely relive your trip over and over again. I finally scrapped our trip from November 2005 and haven't done our March '06 trip, but when I do, I'll be able to have complete Disney brain again. :smickey:

I totally agree with everyone. We were there in June for our first trip to WDW and had the most magical time. My dh and I are both teachers, and we return to work in 2 days :( - I have also had the hardest time "coming down" from our trip and it was almost 9 weeks ago. I still think about it regularly and desperately want to start planning our next trip. We won't be going until June, 2008 though, so I've got a while to wait. My daughters (ages 4 and 6) talk about it all the time. Hopefully the school year starting will get our minds onto something else for a while and then next summer I can start planning our 2008 trip. I had our digital scrapbook done within a week of being home and my husband had our DVD/slideshow movie (60 minutes long) finished about 3 weeks ago. So now we just relive the memories and look forward to another magical trip in 2 years! If anyone has any other ideas to keep the magic alive for 2 more years please let me know!

School will be here soon enough for the kids! SO you need to get planning your next great escape!!! Works for me!

Laura,

Another teacher here!! :teacher: :wave2:

Kind of OT, but what software program did you DH use to make his DVD slideshow? I have used Moviemaker for both my Disney trips and a presentation at school, but I can never get the long ones to save (anything over 20 minutes.) I see that yours was 60 min. Do tell!! What did he use and was it for a PC or a MAC! Thanks! Have a great school year! (My first day is tomorrow :sad2: but my DD starts K and she's SO excited!) :Pinkbounc

Hi,
The program that my dh used for the DVD was ArcSoft ShowBiz 2. It came with our DVD writer that we purchased prior to our trip and we used it with our PC. It was a lot of fun to collect all 1100 of our digital photos and camcorder movies and combine it all into a movie with Disney music as the background. Good luck and enjoy your school year. I'm hoping I'll be busy enough to not be dreaming about our Disney trip every day (just on the weekends ;) )

Youre not alone. I get it everytime, and I get it ROUGH! Like a "what is the meaning of life, if I am not happy unless I am there" feelings...

Im going in just 30 short days - and Im DREADING this feeling upon my return.

Youre not alone. As others have said - Start Planning Again! :confused3
