Okay, I think I have followed the digital camera questions for most of the info I needed. So most of you recommend taking a laptop, what do you do with the laptop during the day? I don't want to have it go missing and since I don't travel with it as a rule, I don't have a clue.

I take mine everywhere. Gotta love living in a city with a ton of hot spots. Anyway, most hotels that are newer will have in room safes that a laptop will fit in. If not there is always a safe at the front desk. If you are staying onsite at WDW I am sure someone will be able to tell you if your resort has in room safes. I know Pop Century has them.

The resort rooms have a safe but I recommend purchasing a Kensington lock for you laptop. You loop the cable around something in your room that they can't slip the cable off and attach the other end to your laptop.

The room safes are pretty small, hard to put a laptop in there. I've typically just put my laptop on the desk or in the drawer.

Knock on wood... I've never had a problem with it.

Perhaps we are just lucky but we left it on the table in the room during our whole stay (10 days). If you didn't want to leave it in plain site I would either shove it in a drawer under your clothes or in your suitcase.

If the safe isn't big enough, I leave mine in a locked piece of luggage (I also leave my digital camera, ect. if I am not taking them to the park). I haven't ever had a problem; I can't see anyone stealing a piece of locked luggage when it could be nothing but dirty clothes inside!

Great piece of advise! I just bid on and won a Kensington lock on eBay for $1.25 plus $5.85 s/h. It's a small investment in the security of my laptop. I'll feel safer taking it with me on our next trip.

I travel a lot for business and vacation and my laptop goes with me 24/7 (mostly for work purposes although I manage to get my personal surfing done too, lol)
I have never locked my laptop/cameras or anything else up. The only thing I ever put in a hotel safe would be my travel tickets, wallet or credit cards.
I never worry about it. And if something should "disappear" from my room the hotel is ultimately responsible. That's why they pay the insurance to bond their employees.

I am pretty sure the inroom safes at PC were made with laptops in mind. Tyler, our CM buddy on the resort page stated that a laptop would fit in the safe at PC. That said, I never lock mine up in anyway. I have never had one stollen from a room. We have travelled with a laptop for the last 7 years! I do know someone who lost one on an airplane (they brought it on as a carry on and it could not fit in the over head because they were one of the last people on the plane. Stewardess insisted it be checked. That was the last he saw of it.).
