Any suggestions for a post cruise tour in Vancouver? I want to go to the aquarium and our flight isn't until 11:30 PM on debarkation day, so we have lots of time. So, I'm looking for either a tour that lets us bring our luggage along or a place to leave the luggage while we go around town. Suggestions? Thanks!

Oh, the luggage is the tough part. In 2013, after our Alaskan cruise ended, we took a taxi to the airport and checked our luggage in. Then, we hopped on the Skytrain at the airport and took a ride. Somehow we ended up back at the dock so we bought tickets for the Hop On/Hop Off bus and took a tour around Vancouver. It was great because we got the see the sites of the city while someone else did the driving and we could get off where we wanted to and then get back on later. At the end of the day we got back on the Skytrain and went back to the airport. If your plane doesn't take off until 11:30pm then you have plenty of time to see all kinds of things. Enjoy.

We did the exact same thing this past June!! The hop on hop off was fun cause we didn't have to worry about driving. We were tired so we mostly just rode and didn't get off!!

OK, I have to fess up, we only got off at one stop. We were pretty tired too . But we really enjoyed being driven all over the city.

LOL!! Us too!! We did get off at Granville island, walked around and had an expensive lunch at Bridges (burger, fish and chips. It was good, but pricey!!) and got off in Chinatown to get a drink and change trolley's (that one was warm)

When you debark.... look for CDS baggage next to car rentals. For $40 (min 4 items) they will send it to the airport for you. Then take a cab (sometimes the Aquarium offers shuttles) to the Aquarium.

  • 7:30pm start making plans to leave downtown. Perhaps the Canada Line subway?
  • 8:15pm arrive at the airport International arrivals level looking for the CDS baggage office to reclaim your luggage
  • 8:30pm elevator up and begin check-in 3 hours before your flight
  • 11:30pm wheels up on with dreams on your return visit

@labdogs42: You might want to check out one of my fav attractions prior to the aquarium as you have so much time. The return shuttle can drop you off outside of Stanley Park. To begin your day.... the bridge shuttle departs just outside the cruise terminal.

other option is science world. If you do the hop on hop off you might be able to do that as well as granville island which is a great place to get special art pieces and there is a special spot dedicated to the kids wih unique items. If you want to get a good walk in before your flight you could go around the seawall after being at the aquarium. It takes you through ssome amazing old growth trees and I believe you end up in english bay which has a nice beach and plenty of outside patio restaurants

We sailed last May with a group of eight. We chartered a private tour through this company: http://vancouvertours.com/private-charters/

Our driver picked us up at the pier, loaded our luggage, provided car seats for the littles, and took us where we wanted to go. We visited the fish ladder, the suspension bridge and Grouse Mountain, where we had lunch. All told, the day wasn't much more than if we'd booked through DCL and we had much more independence. It was a great day. At the end, he dropped us off at the Fairmont in the airport, where we spent the night before flying home.

Hi Jessica. It was so great cruising with you all. You definitely made the week even more special. Thank you for your cruising wisdom. And the tip about Mickey Bars. I wanted to send you the photo we took of you on the Hop On Hop Off Bus. But I cannot find you on FB. If you want to connect, friend me on FB: Becky Friedman Downs.
