We are going on a Disney cruise and contemplating staying 1 night in a disney resort afterwards. Both of my daughters have autism and both have been on Disney cruises before. We usually fly home the day we get off the ship. My 5 year old loves the cruises but they are definitely overwhelming for her. We usually have a bit of time to waste before our flight so we go to the mall and walk around. For this trip, we have to take my mother in law to the airport first then wait for our flight. I'm thinking of spending a night in Orlando instead so the girls aren't spending all day at the airport.

So - do you think it would be too overwhelming to spend a day in Orlando or should we head home to get our girls back to their "routine".
Any quieter hotels or things to do for sensory kids?

What time is your flight? I'd suggest looking into a "day room" at the MCO Hyatt -- many people do that if waiting for a later flight post-cruise. It would allow your family a room with beds for resting as well as use of the pool. You could do similar by spending a night at a WDW resort, but it would involve more back-and-forth travel (since you are taking MIL to the airport anyway) plus the overnight. A day-room is just that - use of the room for the day - and you still go home that evening.

Enjoy your cruise!
