post cruise depression

We just came back from our yearly cruise on the Magic--this was our 4th. Other years we have booked for the next summer, but this time we are not because my parents did not want to do the west coast. We booked on the Adventure of the Sea for next June, but I am so depressed we are not doing DCL. I know the cruise will be fun, but not Disney.
How does everyone get over the post cruise blues?
Considering booking 4 day, but not sure if that will feel too rushed after 7 day.
I wish I was still on the Magic.

Well, for us, we softened the blow by heading over for a week to WDW after the cruise! The first time we cruised we went home directly from the port. Very depressing. Last summer on our second cruise we chose to go to WDW afterwards so that we had a little Disney magic to look foward to. Not the same as a cruise, but a lot better then heading directly home.

Now, this summer, we are feeling the Cruise Blues. No cruise for us this summer. :(

(I should say, "never say never", because I may be able to get DH to go for another since Florida Resident rates have finally been released! -- keeping my cruise fingers crossed!)

Two years ago we went on a 3-day cruise as a honeymoon cruise after being married at the Wedding Pavilion in WDW (it was my first DCL cruise).

I didn't book onboard and have kicked myself ever since. A day after getting off the 3-day cruise we booked our first 7-day cruise (Eastern) and it was a great trip.

While on that cruise last July we booked another 7-day (Eastern) for this August.

The one thing I realized after our first 7-day was this...each week has 168 hours. These "weeks" pass 52 times a year; what you choose to do with these weeks is your choice.

I love every moment I am on the cruise ship, but I know that it has to come to an end just like every week does.

Make the most of your vacation, don't ever look back, and plan your next one as soon as you can.

Anticipation is almost as much fun as being there.

to make it easier we watch our vhs video's of the cruise and WDW. we also enjoy looking at all the pictures and our scrapbook. it seems to ease the pain. but booking the next cruise is sooooooooo much more fun

Beth,

I understand!! I actually started getting a little sad right before the cruise because I had done so much e-mailing and posting.

We'd love to do another, but because of time and money we won't be able to do another until 6-06 if we're lucky. Even DS-13 misses it (he has a coconut cup he has been using-it is sad!)

It's hard because we made new friends who will be cruising without us. But I thank God for the vacation we took and hope it's not the last DCL one.

I asked my ds if he would mind giving up that 2nd year of college especially since the 1st year went toward the cruise already. LOL

BethA, I could've written your post!

I'm still feeling the 'post-cruise' blues somewhat, and we've been home since June 5th. (We were on the Magic too.)

We, too, did not book next summer because we don't really want to do the Mexican Riviera, and it's more $$ than we'd planned on spending.

We booked the Carnival Glory for spring break (got a great price, but it's still not DCL!) and booked DCL for Thanksgiving 2005. (Figured we'd get the best rate by booking 18 mos. early, and we were right!)

However, our next DCL trip is still a long way off, and I've tried getting excited about Carnival, but I've already been on their message boards, and they're BORING! (There's something about sailing w/Mickey!)

Mickeyhugger,

I've checked out "other" boards as well. BORING!!!! Most have only a few current posts.

I've been looking at other lines, but I don't think I can go there!!! Especially for just the little details, like I want my room #7127, and I love the adult areas on DCL (I know that sounds weird on a DCL cruise!).

I'm going to have to just wait!

Lorie

Funny that you said that about other boards. I've looked at RCL boards and the posts aren't that current and it's just not the same as here!!!

I keep thinking maybe I'll do a cruise on the wonder to tide me over to 2006, but not sure. The 3 night fits easily into school schedule, but seems so quick. Any feedback on that--then can I justify the airfare for so few days. Does anyone know when the Christmas decorations go up? I'd really like to see them and I hear the beginning of Dec is not too expensive.

I feel silly being so let down after the amazing vacation we've had. I just have always had that next Disney cruise on the horizon.

Thanks for all the support-at least I'm not alone.
Beth

You do get hooked on these boards! We are taking a vacation to Smugglers Notch next week and it's hard to get really excited about it because I don't know anyone who's been there who can let me know what to expect. I've searched and there are no message boards to help me excited about what's to come. I think part of the fun of going on a DCL cruise is the excitement other people generate as they prepare, while their onboard and when they get home.

Beth: I read as you prepared and couldn't wait until you returned with a report because we have the same room next year. We have a cat 3 this year and was looking forward to just a couple of the concierge benefits (mostly surprises for the kids, arcade cards etc) and you said they were gone. Do you think things have changed or that you had a bad concierge staff? Would you get the Cat. 1 again?
