Post and Crown after root canal

I just had a root canal done this morning (much easier then I thought it would be). There is no pain yet.
Anyway I have to go back in to have a post put in. I was told this is a 45 minute appointment. What does that entail? Will they numb me for it?

Also when I get a crown, which I need because their is a small crack in the tooth, what will the process for that be and how long will it take?
So they numb you when they grind off most of your tooth to fit the crown??
Will the crown hurt??

I had all of this done recently and none of it hurt. I had a cavity under an existing crown - when they removed the crown they discovered the decay had compromised the nerve, and they sent me straight for the root canal. I was already numb from the cavity but they will numb you before they do the post. It's really just more of the awkward holding your mouth open, but none of it will hurt.

After that they will put a temporary crown on and at some point take impressions for the permanent crown. Then you'll wear the temporary crown for a while - 3 weeks for me - until the permanent crown is ready.

Good luck! It's a pain to go through but not literally!

Thanks! I made the appt for my post today..I'm guessing they will give me the temp crown at that appt?? I had the root canal today and I have the post appt for Friday, I hope that is enough time for my tooth to calm down..
