Post all SW questions concerns, etc. here...

Last year our March dates NEVER came down in price….only up. I hope you have better luck!

I got an email from Southwest that said my flight is eligible for a flight credit. The offer said that I could change my flight for no charge, but I would lose any "extras" (in my case, EBCI) and I would receive a flight credit good for 1 year. Since my plans are relatively flexible (this is for my return flight), I was intrigued, so I clicked on the offer. The flight that they are offering to switch me to is the next day! And to compensate me for my flexibility, they will offer me a flight credit of......$20! Stop traffic! :rotfl2: Um, no thanks. I'll stick with my original plans. That's laughable. The odd thing is that I actually wanted to add that last night to our trip in the first place, but $20? That's not even enough to cover the cost ofthe EBCI that I would forfeit if I took the offer! C'mon, Southwest...you can do better.

We get those offers all the time from other airlines as well.

Southwest has had a sale just after Christmas in the past. I hope they do that again this year because our March trip dates are still very expensive.
I hope so as I’m waiting to book my April and May dates. My March 3 fligh home went from 14,000 points down to 5,500 points! My Feb 24th flight to MCO dropped from 11,000 to 7,000. Now both those flights have more than doubled.

Our flight home on March 4 has remained very high. I just checked the seating chart and a huge amount of the standard seats are gone. There must be a high school band or some other group taking those seats. So, even if the price dropped, I would have to buy an expensive seat in order to avoid the back of the plane. :(

I have the SW premier credit card. I purchased Choice tickets for a March flight. I was able to select preferred seats for $20 more because of my SW cc. That is a lot cheaper than the additional $70 it cost for Choice preferred. I didn't know that it was an option.

I didn’t either. I know you can upgrade to those for free at 48 hours, but didn’t know you could purchase them upfront for a discount.

I remember wondering if this would be the case because they were pretty vague at just saying "for free subject to availability at 48 hours" (paraphrasing here). It left the other option being purchase it but they didn't really go over the rules of that.

I have the priority and it looks like the discount applies as well to the extra legroom seats if choosing the upgrade option on an already booked flight.

I'm being quoted $32 for middle or $34 for Window or Aisle extra legroom if I don't want to play the game at 48 hours from departure.

I'm glad they are putting that in writing like above to make that much clearer for people potentially look at upgrading

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one seeing lack of movement on flight prices.
This is the first year in prob 10+ not booking on release day for our summer trip. Prices are crazy right now and with the change in "rebooking" to get points back I'll just wait it out.

If I book a ticket with travel funds that are transferrable to another person and have no expiration date but then have to cancel, what will the new expiration date be? I want to book for my husband so we don't lose the seat if the flight fills up, but I should get the companion pass in January so would need to cancel and rebook as companion. I hate to lose the non-expiring benefit of those travel funds though.

I think that is the smart move. I really wish I had done that with our upcoming Easter trip. Our trip was cheaper then but I ended up using non expiring flight credits to book them and only the top 2 options were available (and still are the only ones at this point) 🤦‍♀️

When you say you'll be getting companion in January what do you mean? SWA uses January-December for tier qualifying and companion pass eligibility so it resets every January 1st. Is your companion based off a credit card offer?

I would book the top 2 in cash since they would be fully refundable back to your CC. The flight credit would have an expiration date based on when you bought the ticket for either 6 or 12 months so not worth the risk imo unless you plan to fly again shortly.

I'm assuming it is from CC Spend in December that would post on Jan statement giving them the CP.
