Post all SW questions concerns, etc. here...

If you use a combination of points and travel credit funds to purchase your flight will the value of your points be the same as if you purchased with just points?

No, if using points and cash, which is what a travel fund is treated as, you get a flat 1 cent per point. Almost always a point is 1.4 cents, occasionally more, occasionally less, but I've never seen less than one cent per point.

I thought that might be the case so I’m glad I asked. Thank you.

View From the Wing just reported RR earning structure getting gutted on the cheapest fares....2 points per dollar instead of 6. I don't think SW has confirmed or denied...but not great if true.

Sounds like they are preparing for WGA to be basic economy (much like how someone mentioned seat selections would be handled). I know I'm being the grumpy negative nancy here but like I said last year SWA could be run into the ground by this investor who may be acting like many other businessmen over the years, get a company, get as much money as you can while you can and effectively kill the company once you're done. Obviously I hope I'm wrong but none of their decisions since the investor took over have given me any confidence that they will be better with this guy doing what he's doing.

Has anyone had a negative experience using Southwest for their car rental? I thought you had to pay ahead with them, but it appears not. They have some good rates today.

I've looked at them, but never pulled the trigger because I've always found better rates from Autoslash. If you're not paying SW, but paying the rental company directly, I wouldn't have a problem with it. That scenario means you are actually a customer of the rental company with SW acting as your travel agent. That gives you options, when you pay a third party, the third party is the rental company customer not you, so you don't get any benefits.

Goodbye free checked bags. One of the only things that really separated SW from the other airlines. What separates them now especially since dates are already in line, if not higher than some of their competitors?

Any fare purchased after May 28 no longer gets free checked bags. Wonder if that includes re-faring the same ticket or changing flight as well.

Was this announced somewhere? I wonder if they will do like other airlines and give you bags if you have their credit card.

They just had a story on the cbs national news. Free bags for higher level seats, CCs, the usual. No price released for bags but they said it would be competitive with other airlines.

My loyalty to them is over between this and the change of seating I will be checking out other airlines.

It is certainly a bad change for the consumer.

We will continue to fly with them as they are our only direct option to the mouse.

We have SW, JetBlue and breeze, so we will have options. Big issue to me is right now SW is the most expensive base fare and close to equal once a single bag is added so if checked bags is on top of current pricing they will easily be the most expensive.

Bigger issue for us is this:

"Flight credits issued for tickets purchased on or after May 28, 2025 will expire one year or earlier from the date of ticketing, depending on the fare type purchased.3"

"3. Travel credits will expire one year from ticketing date for all fares except Basic, which will expire six months from ticketing date"

1741695968422.pngdo we think the x for changes on basic will mean no longer being able to rebook to get points back?
