Post 09 AAA rates here

I just made my reservation a few days ago for Marathon weekend (Jan 9-12, 2009). 3 night, standard room at Pop Century was $235.26 incl tax. This included a AAA discount of 15%. I'm really pleased with the price but hoping for FL res or PH discount of more so I can upgrade to a moderate. :)

Okay, Here's what I would like some constructive opinions on. Yesterday I called Disney to book the following for August 2009, 19th - 25th
2 standard rooms at BC 6 nights
6 magic your way with park hopper and more. 5 adult 1 child
dining plan: 1 quick service, 1 table service, 1 snack
trip insurance

WITH AAA discount $ 8,101.60 She said the room deduction was from 335.00 to 284.75
I was under the impression from reading the dis that you couldn't book with disney and get the dining with the AAA discount. The CM told me I could and this was the total. TOOOOOOO Much.
I called my local AAA with the same info and they quoted me $7,423.99.

What I don't understand is that even with the rack rate listed on Mousesavers as 335.00 a night and what the CM told me I'm still almost three hundred high if you add it up separately. Where's the AAA discount? What am I missing? :confused3 This is value season? Thanks for your opinions. :flower3:

Got my quote from my CAA TA yesterday

September 18 - 27, 2009
ASMU Family Suite
3 adults, 3 kids
7 day MYW, no add-ons
$2,942.58 ($3,223.11 through Disney)

with DDP
$4,319.04 ($4,599.57 through Disney)

Looks like about a 15% discount on room, which is consistent with what I have ben readin here...although the agent wasn't sure of what the dicount was "They just give us a package rate". My local agents are far from Disney experts...

We'll be booking and hoping for some codes and then FD!

I'm hearing this more and more what these CMs are saying. Just rememeber don't let them make you THINK it's a discount....always look into it further. This happened to me too...mis-information, telling me a price and saying it includes a discount and it really didn't.

Ok....let's take this one thing at a time.

First, you can book a room only reservation through Disney with a AAA discount.

Second, you cannot book a package through disney with a AAA discount.

3rd - You can book both a room only and package with a AAA discount through a AAA TA. 95% of them cannot apply a future discount code issued out by Disney if it comes out in the future. Mine is able to.

Ok here is the breakdown I came up with:

Standard Room at BC value season $335.00/night * 6 * 2 = $4,020.00
***here's the kicker....you have 5 Adults...did they charge you and extra $25 or $15/night for that extra adult? That might be where the issue is.

I'm assuming it's a 7 day MWY pass with hoppers - @$1,739.15

Basic Dining Plan @$1,266.00

These amounts equal to roughly $7025.15 (not including tax or trip insurance)

I'd say with insurance and tax it comes to roughly the amount Disney quoted you of $8101.06 (this has no discount)....unless I'm missing something also.

I couldn't log on reservations on Disney to come up with an exact quote online maybe you can just to see.

Hope that helps you a little....and I didn't confuse you more lol.

Happly Planning....

Thanks for all your effort to help me. I called it 5 adults because my oldest grandson is going to be 10 when we go. So he won't cost more as far as the room. The tickets are for 6 days. The disney cm told me that the AAA discount brought the rooms from 335.00 a night to 284.75. The total for both rooms with tax is $3844.20. So when I went to my AAA office I expected that is what they would charge me for the rooms as well. Then I added the dining plan for 5 adults and 1 child. The park tickets too with trip insurance. AAA came up with the 7,423.99. Doesn't that figure out to a rack rate of 335.00 a night per room? I also thought that through a AAA package there was a discount on the park tickets. Thanks again for any help. Maybe I've been spending to long on this and my brain is melting. :scared:

Really? I thought that it was pretty easy for them to do - assuming that there was availablity on the room/resort that you were looking at.

Are many people having problems getting AAA TA's to add a discount code??

Mine indicated that it should be no problem.

My AAA agent said that she would keep her eyes open and apply future discounts if they became available. I just priced up the info on the web site that I mentioned earlier. It came out to 7,987.77. On the phone with the CM yesterday: 8,101.60. AAA agent 7,423.99. My head hurts.

I know from past experience from booking, that was always my dilema....If I wanted a AAA package and a better deal came out through disney they wouldn't be able to apply the codes. The new TA I am dealing with now said she CAN...(hopefully). I don't really know then....maybe they changed something that they are able to now......anyone have any input on this?

February 17-23 2009
CSR or CRB (most likely going with CSR)
4 people (2 adults, 2 children - 11 and 15
6 days park hoppers

$2381 - that's a 5% discount off the wdw quote and a couple others I've gotten.

Should I just book the room only and wait/hope for a code to come out for the tickets - or book the package and still wait for a code?

Are you sure it's 5%? Are you doing it off the whole package? Usually the discount is only on the room portion only.

Actually - I'm not positive - because I did only request package quotes. I have a request out to AAA on room-only to see the difference.

What kind of ticket savings can I expect/hope for? I believe 2 years ago when we went we got free park hopping...

I got 15% off preferred room at POP using AAA for room only. If you buy tickets only from AAA I think they give you 5% off but if Disney does PH free add like last Jan we may do that.

Disney does not allow you to stack discounts.

Let's say you have a AAA discount on your room. Then let's say a few months later Disney announces a discount code that coincides with your travel time. You can't use that new discount and your AAA discount. You can only use one, and you have to decide which one is best for you.

FYI, "free dining" is considered a discount. You can't have an AAA discount and take advantage of a "free dining" promotion. Again, you have to do the math and decide which is best for you.

True, you can't stack discounts. I leave it up to Dreams Unlimited to swtich my ressie to a better discount if one becomes available. At this time, I'm only getting 10% off rack rate with AAA. If something better comes along, I know my agent will switch my ressie for me. They have not let me down before. They are a great group of travel agents.:thumbsup2

hope that helps anyone trying to decide whether joining aaa is worth it. It was for us.

When I went to AAA they said that you can't book packages with them for 2009 until about a month after the prices come out...is this true or can I book now. I have my room but want to add the myw and dining. Also....do I have to pay in full because of the dining plan with AAA?
