Possibly going to Vegas...what to do?

We just got back a couple of weeks ago. I would recommend trying to stay at a hotel as close to mid-strip as you can. Of the ones you listed, Monte Carlo has the most convenient location, followed by NYNY. We stayed at Excalibur in Feb and found it a bit dingy. It was OK, it just wasn't all that nice. We were at Luxor this past time. The hotel was nice, it's just a pain to get anywhere from there, though if you have a car it doesn't make as big of a difference.

All of the major hotels will have free self parking and free valet (though you must tip).

For fun things to do, DH and I really liked The Comedy Stop at Tropicana. It was very reasonably priced for Vegas and had great stand up comedy! If you need some things to do while he's working, check out the Titanic exhibit at Tropicana, the Jubilee Backstage Tour at Bally's, the Fashion Show Mall, and the Mac King Comedy Magic show at Harrah. We've also seen Viva Las Vegas at Stratosphere and Rick Thomas' magic show, now at the Stardust, but were disappointed with both.

As for shows, all of the major ones are great, but very very pricey. We saw Elton John last time we were there and we were absolutely blown away! His show was worth every penny!!! I've heard great things about Avenue Q at Wynn, and all of the Cirque du Soliel shows are supposed to be good.

Have a great time!!!

If you are going the 27th thru the 3rd there are some GREAT rates out there for you. The weekend night of Friday will be very pricey in Vegas but the other days there are decent rates.

Monte Carlo has rooms listed for
59.00 $59.00 $69.61 $69.61 $69.61 $129.79 (this is Friday night)
*It averages out to be 76.10 a night*

The Flamingo is listed as
55.16 $55.16 $55.16 $55.16 $55.16 $110.33
*It averages out to be 64.36 a night*

The Excalibur is listed as
47.19 $47.19 $47.19 $47.19 $50.73 $120.36
*It averages out to be 59.97 a night*

NY NY is listed as
70.19 $70.19 $70.19 $70.19 $70.19 $160.46
*It averages out to be 85.24 a night*

All of these hotels we've stayed at and they are all pretty decent.
I got these rates from vegas.com and I would honestly stay at any of them. The Flamingo is a great location mid strip where the others are at the far side of the strip.

You can get around very easily with the monorail. If you go to
http://www.lvmonorail.com/ you can see a map of where the stops are and pricing.
