Possible to purchase DVC with a friend?

Thanks for the input and anecdotes, everyone! My friend and I are in agreement with those posters who suggest we each purchase our own small amounts and combine them when we want to travel together.

Excellent.

We've already discussed how to handle room accommodations, but we'd also buy enough points to allow us stays in one bedrooms. That'd also allow us to bring more guests if we wanted to.

The person you were responding to said "since one might end up on the King bed and the other on the pullout." A one bedroom gives a bedroom with a bed, then a living room with a pullout plus the kitchen. Not a lot of room for extra buddies unless they are very close buddies. I booked a one bedroom at SSR for me and my friend for Wine&Dine, and after we got there realized I wish I'd had the points for a 2 bedroom, even just for the two of us, because we BOTH deserved to sleep like grownups on a real bed. (in a big family situation I don't have a problem with pullout beds and such, but with just 2 of us it really felt silly to have one on the pullout)

Interesting thread. I can see the temptation to do this with a good friend, but in the end I agree with other posters that it seems like a bad idea. Kudos to you OP taking the comments/criticism in stride. Good luck with your decision.
