possible to get 2 rooms together?

Oh jeez, don't get so defensive about THIS now. I am simply saying that staying at OKW and SSR is better if you have a car, everyone touts how great it is to be able to park close to your unit at SSR and OKW. No you don't need it, but checking in and out is not as easy if you don't have a car. And I said nothing about the internal WDW transportation, that is fine at all the DVCs.
I wasn't "GETTING DEFENSIVE" I was just stating that it is NOT an absolute necessity to have a car at either location. I have never had one and I never will and I have no problems getting ANYWHERE that I need to go in a timely fashion. Better for you perhaps....just don't try to make it like you speak for everyone because it's your opinion (which you are entitled too, just like me) and everybody's got one.........

When I stay at BWV I wish I had a golf cart for the 3 mile hike to my room! :rotfl2:

One certainly can do SSR and OKW without a car but it is very advantageous to have one there. I'd never do either resort without one. If I didn't have a car I would stay at one of the other resorts if at all possible. AKV will be somewhat similar other than ? for the AK park.

Had no problem walking down to AP from Congress Park, loading up on milk, OJ, water and other stuff. Even had my 10 & 5 yr old help carry stuff. Not that far and the kids didn't even whine. We have no problem with the walks as we do alot of walking at home. Even rolled the suitcases over to have them checked in for DME.

I only plan on renting a car when we want to do other things in Orlando(Universal, Sea World, etc). I have no problem staying at SSR with no car.

Sorry Starr W it's been a long week and I guess my O-HI-O humor is a little bit off this week! :lmao:

No, you are being totally defensive. I never said it was a necessity to have a car at SSR or OKW, and I certainly didn't say it was an absolute one. I only said it was easier if you do. If you have the benefit of parking right outside your unit, of course having a car is more convenient. Being hotel based, checking in and out at the other DVCs without a car is easier since they are better set up with bell services.

Anyway, normally I am game for an SSR argument, but this thread isn't even remotely the place for it, so I'm not going to get into one.

To the OP, I repeat what I said before; you should still be able to get rooms well within the 7-month window for September and much of November. However, the longer you wait, the more likely it is that SSR or OKW will be the only resorts available. This may be fine for you of course, and they are both fine resorts, but if had other DVCs in mind, just be aware of this.

A reminder that the topic of this thread is not the pros and cons of individual resorts, but rather some overall general questions about renting reservations from a DVC member.

To the OP, good luck with your rental, if you decide to go that route. I do know that whenever I've requested studios to be near each other at OKW, they have either been
  • at opposite ends of the same building
  • stacked on top of each other (one on first floor, one on second directly above) -or-
  • in adjacent buildings, but still very convenient to one another.

It is strickly opinion, some people can't manage at OKW and SSR without a car, but many manage very well.

The bus stops are truly not that far from each building. As to whether you are close to the main building, that depends on what room you get. Same with other DVC resorts, some rooms are close to the lobby, others are not.
