Possible reason for new room assignment policy?

Changing the fax machine number would not be a good idea. I have had to receive and send business and personal faxes from Disney (I signed a contract for the sale of my house from there!) So... they would have to have a fax for things like that and once it got out everyone would use it for Room Requests.

I wonder if the resorts will quit accepting faxes also.

I doubt they will quit accepting faxes, ignoring them due to the large volume they get now, well that is a possibility.

Every decision MS makes, is about money...

- Providing exceptional customer service by giving guests a fast efficient check-in experience is good for business, repeat business, referrals, etc.

- Not having to hire an additional CM to handle the guests that are queuing up, waiting to check in, while other guests spend far too much time "working the system"... is good for business.

- Simplifying the reservation process (so that some-day they can put the whole darned thing out onto the web!) is good for business

There are over 60,000 of us. We all would love to be in the best room possible during our vacation. We all want quiet rooms near the elevator, BW view, Illuminations view, Hospitality House, whatever, and we want these rooms every time!

We call, we pester, we fax.

Guess what, we are not always going to get it no matter WHAT kind of system they have.

According to what Jackie told me, medical requests that fall under the ADA guidelines WILL be preassigned. However, non-smoking for medical reasons will NOT be pre-assigned.

Originally posted by colleen costelloWill "medical requests" still be honored, even if you check in late? I would have though so, but I booked OKW the other day and the CM said "not guaranteed."

ADA rooms are those rooms that have features like roll in showers, grab bars, roll under sinks, features for people who are deaf or hearing impaired. Those are the ONLY rooms that were ever guaranteed. The other medical requests were always filled first before general requests for the same thing. A medical request was always something you were almost certain to get, but not guaranteed.

I don't see how they can NOT take medical requests into account. They don't have anywhere near enough ADA compliant rooms to make everyone who needs first floor take one of those rooms to make sure they will get first floor.

Unfortunately, there have probably been an overwhelming number of room requests, impossible to fill. Members are going overboard in wanting pricise room locations. I hope non-smoking is given strong consideration, I can't sleep in a smoking room.

MS could reduce a lot of faxes, phone calls, etc. if they created an on-line reservation system!! This would allow pre-assignment of rooms from the date of the request and special requests would be met or you would be given alternatives. This would also save DVC a lot of money since they wouldn't need as many people on the phones.

I just want to be guaranteed a non-smoking room (if this is what I request) no matter what time I arrive! JMHO Annmarie

According to what disneyberry posted on another thread, the very first post on page 1, Jackie said that handicapped and medical requests would continue to be pre-assigned, plus they might also consider situations where people requested rooms together/close to each other.

Since LisaR posted on this thread that Jackie told her that
medical requests that fall under the ADA guidelines WILL be preassigned. However, non-smoking for medical reasons will NOT be pre-assigned.
, it sounds like MS is not giving a consistent message. There are a lot of medical requests that are medically necessary for that guest, but do not neccessarily fall under language of the ADA law. And the law is not exactly black and white; there is a lot of gray up for interpretation in it.
