I just got back from our 8 day trip to WDW. While exiting one of the parks I was asked if I would be willing to complete an online survey once I got home. Well, I just completed it. It was regarding a potential future show located at MGM. Below is text right out of the survey. The stated cost per adult would be about $75. The survey asked a lot of questions about your willingness to pay this price, and what you would consider to be a reasonable price.

Anyway - here is the description:

"Disney is considering building a new 2,000 seat indoor, air-conditioned theater located at Disney-MGM Studios. The theater's design will evoke the grandeur of Hollywood's golden era with an expansive stage and state-of-the-art sound and lighting system.

The show itself will give Guests the opportunity to truly immerse themselves into the fantasy and wonder of Disney stories, brought to the stage in a way that Guests have never seen before. Innovative and amazing special effects, elaborate dance choreography, and thrilling acrobatics will captivate both adults and children. Guests will love the chance to see their favorite characters in a brand-new way, immersed in some of the greatest Disney stories and songs ever created. Imagine a live Peter Pan and Wendy flying over the heads of the children seated in the audience. A beautiful, backlit nighttime sky with thousands of stars and a bright full moon surrounds them. Think of seeing the Black Pearl come to life on stage before your very eyes, so real you could touch it. Pouring off its deck are a dozen pirates singing, "Yo ho, yo ho, a pirate's life for me.” These stories are seamlessly interwoven to take Guests to other fantasy worlds that embrace the wonderful fairytales for which Disney is famous. This is a show that has the beauty of "The Lion King" on Broadway, but will be unique to the Walt Disney World® Resort; a once-in-a-lifetime experience, only to be seen at our property.

The nighttime show's duration will be approximately 1 hour, 45 minutes.

Regular admission to Disney-MGM Studios does not include admission to the nighttime show (the nighttime show is extra). However, regular admission to the park is not required to gain access to the theater (that is, Guests can enter the theater directly through a special entrance outside the park)."

Interesting. But for a family of 6 that would be rather expensive. Then again, everything is expensive for a family of 6!! I just don't know.

and honestly id like to know where they plan on putting this ting. i worked at MGM for almost 6 months and there really isn't the space left for this kind of building. unless they demolish some corporate offices, but i doubt that will happen.

Hmm...I'd do it. No different than what we pay in NYC to see a show. Interesting. :thumbsup2

It sounds to me like a good idea since you don't have to pay park admission in addition to the show admission. It seems like the same price and "wow effect" as Cirque du Soilel, which has been quite successful.

It'll be interesting to see this new attraction/idea morph over the next year or so.

I got the same thing. They asked how much would I be willing to pay for this extra show and some other questions. I did say that I was all for it, but Disney has gotten a little expensive and I would not be willing to dish out an additional $300+ for a 2 hour show. If it is in MGM, it should be part of the attractions you pay for with your ticket. The next thing you know, you'll have to pay to see Indiana Jones and Beauty and the Beast.

I tend to agree here - Disney is expensive enough. Yes, I know, I'm paying extra for MVMCP, but it would be nice if they would add more bang for the buck instead of having to dole out more bucks for attractions. JMO

Sounds interesting but I would pass. I'm spending enough down there so to pay a minimum of $150 to see a show wouldn't be a draw. Plus how many little kids are going to want to sit for almost 2 hours for a show.
I can already hear all the complaints about little kids making noise, getting antsy, not sitting still during a show that costs people alot of money.
It'll be worse than the movie theater threads and that's only like $30.00! LOL

It isn't any more than a Broadway show - but I guess depending on the ages of the kids permitted in the theater and the price charged for them would have a lot to do with whether people would spring for this. I like the show idea in and of itself, however. It's almost a separate thing from touring the park, as a show of that length would really cut into park time, and would probably have to be planned for separately.

True. If they say its going to be a big production show at almost 2 hours I can't imagine they wouldn't charge. Especially if you don't need park admission. I think it would be nice for adult couples who don't really want alot of the other stuff, or just people who live in the area to get some Disney on "broadway" without the travel. I don't think I would personally do it just because I'm right by NY and can go to Broadway here, no point in adding any extra $$ to my trips.

This sounds like a wonderful show, but the fact that I do not have to pay
extra for anything in the parks is one reason I love Disney. I live near
Six Flags Great Adventure in NJ and there are are so many things to pay
extra for and I hate going there. I hope they do something like this but
maybe on a smaller scale so it doesn't cost extra or at least maybe not
so much extra. Or how about putting it in DTD so it doesn't seem like
something 'in" a park that you can't do if you can't afford it.

I don't know if I'd pay 75 a ticket but it would be interesting to see.

Since the show is exclusively Disney and you wouldn't be able to see anywhere else I would. It's like people who go to NYC for the first time and HAVE to see a show. We can hop on the train and be there in 40 minutes, so we're used to it. But we LOVE shows! :)

Sounds like a Disney greatest hit songs/scenes show. I would pay extra to see such a show but not Broadway type prices.

It will be interesting to see how this progresses. Thanks for the heads up.
