Possible new DVC Member need help.

Greetings, my name is Michael.

I am highly thinking about joining the Disney vacation club, but I need some help. Now I usually go on vacations twice a year. This year, I went to Flordia twice, once in May and then in August. I stayed at Port Orlean French Quarter and then Hard Rock Orlando in August.

Is the vacation club affording for a person like me, who take vacation twice a year? I usually try to stay at the moderate resorts when I can. When is the lowest amound that you can pay for membership?

First off you do travel to WDW enough to warrant a good look at DVC. But you must realize that the DVC resorts are comparative to Disneys deluxe not moderates resorts. As far as the cost of ownership that all depends on the size of the accomodations you want.....when you travel. Two trips a year could be a sizable investment for you......the minimum purchase is 150 points at $86 per point...until Jan 20th. After that they may go back up to $101.

If you want to vacation at the resorts twice a year, you would need between 150 to 200 points. The best deal with disney is $86.00 / point, or a little less if you do resale. That # of points would cover about 7 days in a studio or 1 bed room twice a year.

Welcome to the DVC boards! You are right to be asking questions and investigating before you make a purchase such as this. DVC is not for everyone, but for those whose lifestyle it does fit, we all love it!

I suggest first getting the dvd and/or doing the "tour" online. The come back here with all of your questions.

To buy-in directly through Disney (as the aboce poster said) is $86 per point, with a minimum of 150 points...that can be steep to many folks. You can also try resales (most on these boards will reccommend The Timeshare Store, whos sponsors this board...just follow the link at the top of this very page). You will see contracts for every point amount...from around 50 all the way to 1000.

However, before you purchase, you will want to do the research. So, welcome to the DVC baords and happy reading!

If you buy directly from Disney, that is correct. You can get smaller contracts initially if you go resale.
