Looking to go on a family trip the week befroe Memorial Day in 2004.
May 22- 29, 2004.
Wanted to know what to expect in terms of crowds, weather and special events that might make things really busy!

If your going before Memorial Day I dont think there will be any crowds, Kids dont get out of school til end of May and on into June. I think that will be a great time to go. As for weather Im sure it will be already getting hot there.
Go to this page and check attandance, weather and a listing of events by month

They are having a members homecoming event for DVC members from the 25-27 at the parks.the members website says that Epcot on the 25th starting at 8:30PM and MK on the 26th at 8:30pm.So i dont know if that will make it any busier that week or not.
We are members and will be there at that time but will not be atteding the homecoming to expensive if you ask me.

we used to always go in May until dw got teaching job. It was by far our favorite time to go. The crowds shouldn't be too bad; although memorial day weekend is one of the busiest of the year. The weather will be hot and humid; although not as stifling as june, july & august can be. It typically doesn't rain near as much either. should be a great time to go and enjoy...

I think May is a great time to go. The crowds are low and the wait times for most rides are maybe 10-15 minutes. You should be able to ride everything you want with minimal wait times if you use FPs. The weather can be hot and humid on days but it's not too bad ... I drink lots of water and carry a small battery operated fan ... walking into stores is also a good way to get a break from the heat as well.

I was there in May and noticed that the crowds really start to pick up on the Thursday and Friday just before Memorial Day. The busiest park seemed to be MK.

We also have a trip planned that week-went last year about the same time. Don't forget the Flower and Garden Festival in Epcot. And I saw somewhere that Arlo Guthrie is there that week. The bummer is that you may have to tell me about it. Just applied for a job-if I get it, we'll have to cancel the trip. DVC members looking forward to the Member's homecoming, too.

Hi,

We'll be there that week, and I think we'll be fine as far as crowds go, I plan to be finished with the parks by Thursday evening, so we'll avoid the Memorial Weekend Rush anyway.

We've been to Disney the first week of May before, and LOVED it, but I'm in college now, and can't miss a week to go earlier.

I'm hoping for the best!

I believe the member homecoming is limited to about 4000 DVC members, so that shouldn't have a big impact on attendance. However it is worth noting that MK and Epcot will close early on the dates and times you noted. Those events are limited to the DVC member homecoming participants only.

Hey Tigger we will be there the 23rd thru the 29th. I have been in May before but the last 2 times were either the 1st or 2nd week. Crowds weren't bad at all 15 to 20 minute waits. The weather was rainy and a bit cool for me one year and the next it was a little hot and sticky. Since this is near the end of May I'm figuring hot which is o.k. by me as long as crowds are still low. We have a 9 yr old son and we are both 41. I know ere going to have a blast but I just wish we knew or had someone for David to have around I'm sure it would be more fun for him to have a friend. I know he will make friends at the resort though so maybe he can swim with some kids.

We are staying at All Star Pop Century from May 22-May 26, 2004
in two rooms. decided it was better to stay on-site anywhere than to be off-site when you have a child in a wheelchair!
from 26 - 29, 2004 we'll find another resort to flake out at but I wanna wait and see what kind of deals I can find on Travel zoo in a couple of months!
Isn't the homecoming for the DVCer's taking place after the parks close???? I thought it was at 8pm! Doesn't the parks close early at like 7pmish???
