so the dithering continues.

flight prices are substantially cheaper from Manchester than Gatwick for our dates. I seem to remember seeing that VA was running the new planes from Manchester?

How does Manchester compare as an airport?

Any advice on close parking?

Anyone used the Escape lounge?

Can I still book my seats together on VA 90 days out if booked via WDW UK?

All advice gratefully received :thumbsup2

We are just done the road from you and actually preferred MAN when we flew from there in April - we were home quicker than from LGW from time the wheels touched down to walking in our front door!

Next year MAN is reverting to the 747s as the A330s are being refitted to 3 class and moving to Caribbean routes.

We found that as MAN was a lot quiter airport we didn't miss a lounge. We had brekkie in Frankie & Bennys then just had look round but there was loads of places to sit and it was no where near the hell that the south terminal can be of a morning!

We booked meet and greet parking direct through MAN and it was a really short walk to the terminal and compared to LGW cheap!

We are back to LGW next year as I booked a flydrive with BA then VS dropped their prices :headache: However I didn't have to pay upfront with was nice just a deposit and we have saved a little on the car too so can't be too upset! We were hoping to fly from MAN though.

thanks Elise79 - I've never looked at Manchester before but realise it isn't actually much further of a drive and surely the roads can't be worse than the M25 ;)

That was all the info I was hoping for and I've just been looking at the price of parking - about half the cost of Gatwick.

Just need to hope the prices don't change before I get booked up when they re-open tomorrow

747 suits me nicely :)

see from your signature that you went to OKW too - we are booked to go with them just hoping I can get my flight added to my WDW booking now that they have been released so that I can just up my deposit.

Thanks again for the quick reply :goodvibes:

We went from MAN as the flights for Easter were £300 pp cheaper than LGW and it was only about 30 mins drive time extra at most (we are East of P'boro in the middle of no where!!).

The drive was actually nicer than the M25 with no Dartford crossing etc. We headed out on the A605 joined the A14 and headed up the M6. It was a really easy drive.

The cost of hotels overnight and parking were considerable cheaper too :thumbsup2

As for OKW we love it - stayed 3 times now and booked for a 4th next year.

Hope you can get your flights added on :goodvibes

We only live 55 mins from Manchester compared to over 3 hours to Gatwick so MAN is our choice of airport both for distance and quality of airport. Its also about half the cost for parking. Meet & Greet usually costs under £40 for 2 weeks.
Only flown from Gatwick once, don't care if I never fly from there again, it was a dump, a snaking line to check in right out the door, hated everything about it. Thankfully MAN is a breeze compared to that.

We have been to OKW 4 times, great resort just over my budget now, its doubled in price from 2009 when we paid £80/nt to 2014 they want £160/nt(both incl free DDP). Offsite I get same size studio for £30/nt + food.

The terminal at Manchester is much nicer IMO.

In August VA were flying new planes on the 11:00 flight and refurbed 747 on the 13:00 flight. I've heard rumours though that they're planning on using refurbs on both soon but I'm not sure when!

thanks Wayneg and flortlebap. I think I remember airport pictures on your last tr wayneg. It's great to hear such positive feedback. by the time I contacted WDW the flight prices had gone up another £400 so still stalling but definitely interested in going from Manchester now. Thanks again :)
